Samsung dlp 6163w color wheel

I'm not sure you received the correct color wheel. Do you have anything left of the shattered color wheel to compare it to the new one? Seems if you got the correct wheel then the colors should of been the same. Color wheels spin at the same rate of 60Hz. The only reason why you would get the wrong color is that the color on the wheel is in the wrong placed at the right time. I would see if you can get a wheel the same # as your original one.

This tv have a colors wheel design in it to this tv.The buzzing noises and the colors are all screwed up because the colors wheel is worn out and spinning off of is axis and rubbing it against the wall of it hall of the steal box frame that hold the colors wheel itself.Don't attemp change the colors wheel by ur self,if u have no mechanical skills.Bacause the colors wheel itself sit way back of the tv,have to take out many mechanicals parts,before can come to the colors wheel itself to replace it.Because u will regret it later if u putting the colors wheel itself in wrong.Hire a tv repair person to replace it.

If you have had this unit for awhile it could just be the lamp. If the image does'nt brighten up you may have an issue with the light path. The color wheel produces the color. If there was an issue with the color wheel you would most likely have a black and white image.

This set uses a color wheel, part number is:
BP96-00674AYou can remove the lamp and look where it faces--it is a round plastic wheel with segments that are different colors---if you remove the lamp and look in the direction it faces(you may need a small mirror to look) if it is shattered or missing segments of the round wheel---it is your problem.

If it is shattered or damaged you are lucky--Samsung sells this part separate---it is located in the optical light engine--you can find instructions for replacing it on the internet--if you decide to do this let me know--I know a few tricks to a good replacement of this kind of part. From Samsung it is about 125 dollar part---You can search on Ebay with your model number(or the part number) and find it for much less---search the part number I gave you there and you will find it. This wheel turns at 14,000 rpm and they eventually lock up and or shatter. The set will detect no motion or improper motion of the wheel and may shut the set off.

had this problem. it turned out to be the color wheel. i left it alone but in 1 month's time, the color wheel shattered!. replace the color wheel asap...coz it's a messwhen it breaks
