SOURCE: Z-2300 remote does not work

Fist plug it into something other then your computer like a walkman or mp3 player, cd player etc. If it does work then it is the original device (computer I am guessing) If it doesn't work it is the speakers. These models have lost of problems and this appears to be one of them. Some have a sub button on the back of the speaker with turns the sub off seperately.

To the two people with problems. This sounds a bit odd, but do you still have the broken remotes? I'm looking for a broken one. I'd pay shipping and throw a few bucks your way if you could send it to me.

Need to open my logitech z 2300

On the back of the subwoofer remove all outside screws running the parameter of the metal back. You should do this with the speaker pointing down so the screws face upward. Once you've removed all the outside screws lay the speaker back in it's normal position and grap hold of the heatsink fins and give a slight twist to it to break the seal. That will loosen it from the back, and you can pull it out about 3 inches. Note: wires are still attached but that should give you enough access to get inside.

Z2300 logitech

This is common in these type speakers but usually comes from poor grounding in the computer or in your outlet.
connect the unit to another outlet and run from a walkman or some portable player and see if you get the same buz. Work backwords from there by plugging into the same plug and unpluggin everything else. You will probabbly find something in/around your outlet is causing the noise.

Broken D-sub cable

I would advise against a direct solder inside the unit. I would go and purchase a replacement connector from a Radio Shack or other electronics parts store. Solder wires to this, then plug in, should fix problem.

Wired remote cable extension

Most monitor cables have only 14 of the pins connected, but if you get a fully wired svga extention cable it does work fine.

Logitech Speaker Help

Unfortunately, Logitech doesn't sell the wired remote controller separately. And that seems to be infamous for going out.
What worked for me (with no sound and no blue light on the remote connector) was to plug a set of earphones into the earphone port. As soon as I did that, the blue light came on and the sound was restored, even after removing the earphones. Someone else said both speakers worked properly while they had the earphones in, but not otherwise.

Logitech Z-2300 speakers

maybe the first step could be checking the subwoofer's fuse.it is located over the power supply connector.
