Cordless Dremel variable speed stuck on maximum

I have a cordless Dremel with variable speed control but when i switch it on it goes straight to maximum speed and i cant turn it down. I guess its just a variable resistor but does anybody know where i can get it fixed? I am based in South London

    Variable speed model - now runs only at full speed or off - variable function failed. About 6 months old. Also 3 x LED to show charge also not working now... Fault after using for about 3 mins - dremel got hot (no cooling fan in design?) so I presume it's overheated itself? Every other drill has a fan for cooling.

    Same problem here with variable speed ...I ended up replacing the variable speed unit and it was ok for a year till it craped out AGAIN :(

The variable speed function is controlled by the switch. On rare occasions you can remove the switch, spray it with electronics cleaner and blow it out well to get it to work again. Usually you have to replace the switch. The switch for your impact driver is Makita part number 638326-6 and runs about $65.

You are right,it will need a slider switch replacement,But first-is it still under warranty?If it is call the costumer support on their 1-800 ...number.If not you could DIY it.Opening the drill is not that hard and as long as you observe the proper orientation and where every wire is connected to,you will be able to disassemble the unit.Inside you could see where the slider switch is connected and how it is positioned.Usually the surface of the switch is burned out and this you have to replace.The next problem is locate the part number it is usually found printed under the slider part.And the next big thing is to order the part and where to order it.Consult the user manual that came with Dremel unit and the ordering address is there.

Model 800 Dremel cordless won't work
try putting the battery in the charger with the power turned off (unplugged from wall socket ) leave over night then start recharging fresh and dont disturb for 10hours after 10 hours see if any better hope this helps glenn.........
