My KLM receiver is 10 yrs. old. It just stopped working. What can I try to fix it?

It has not been moved or unplugged for any reason all these years. If it's heat, how can I stop this and get it going again? I'm not doing anything differently...

SOURCE: My KLM R3100 receiver simply

Sounds like heat to me.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Eure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

My Braun kitchen machine which is 40 yrs old is making funny sound

Not sure what you got but if it is like a blender you might unplug and try moving the moving parts around up down side to side. something 40 years old could have worn or bad bearings.
replace coupler . He removed by prying up but screwed the new one on.

Vertex 231 set to receive an alert tone will not trip while pagers set the same way do. They used to, 8 radios stopped performing properly within 1 1/2 months of each other

It is most likely the encoder. It sends the signal to make the radios act like pagers. Two tone radios and pagers use almost the same exact format for programming. Has anyone worked on the base station or encoder? That is where I would start. Do you have the Vertex software and cables? It could be called a timing setting. This may not be a simple fix. Is there a service shop nearby? We've worked on pagers over 30 years and VX 231's for 12 years. They simply do not stop working unless someone adjusted something.

Sounds like motor overheating and shutting down. Motor will have to be replaced if that's the case. Probably not feasible on a 10 year old machine

no ....the tube will end up after 20 yrs in 10 yr old sony...
it is worth if u fix it. randomly going black means...horizontal driver trans former is the problem..or any loose contact with the 110 volt supply to that transformer,,or any loose contact with line o/p transformer.. (horizontal driver transformer may be gone
then tv behaves like this) if any other parts gone tv wont come back.... there may be a loose contact call a service pro..

"F1" error code on Magic Chef gas range Model 3488XRA

I'm not sure how to fix this, but my mom's magic chef has been doing this for close to 10 years. She's managed it by plugging a power strip into the wall outlet and plugging the stove into the power strip. Then she can just turn on the strip when she needs to use the oven. It only requires moving the unit once, and is easy for the technological/ home repair novice.

It keeps goin to protectin mode

Well I have an Onyyo TS SV515 Pro II receiver that is quite a few years old. I have lived in several houses and have moved it with me. For as long as I can remember it has been going into 'protect mode' when I turned it over 6 on the volume knob. I have a subwoofer and 4 infinite speakers and a yamaha center channel speaker.
I got on the internet the today to see if I could figure out why it did this. One person suggested cutting my speaker wires and resplicing it making sure no hanging wires where there.
I had been using the same speaker wire since I puchased it (10 yrs ago). I feel pretty stupid, cause I just did the wires to my front 2 Infinite speakers and WaLa...It works flawlessly. I can now turn up my receiver...after 10 years of dealing with no 'full' volume.
*****Check those speaker connection, they are the key*****
