Usually gears breaking is a sign that your grinding the coffee too fine. Other possible reasons for breaking gears are a malfunction with the brew group itself. Unlubed and uncleaned brew groups are notorious for breaking the gears as well.

I recommend soaking the brew group in hot water and cafiza for a while, rinsing, and then lubing the inner chamber, side screw nut, and lower piston.

After that i recommend adjusting grinder settings lower to not place as much stress on the machine.

Most people do not understand that these home super automatic machines were never made to make authentic espresso, but an approximate of it.

The brew group is stuck and will not come out

I hope one of this two solutions solve your problem.

1- The brew group is out of place. Turn the machine on. Close the service door.
The brew group is automatically placed in the correct position.

2-Coffee grounds drawer is inserted. Remove the dregdrawer first, then the brew
group.

I have a Saeco Odea Go and my puck in the dreg drawer are really wet and I have water leaking (brown so with coffee) under the dreg drawer. how I can fix it ?

I recently had this problem. I throughly cleaned and lubricated the brew group as directed by the manual. Apparently if the brew group doesn't move smoothly enough it won't grind the correct amount of beans. Try lubricating and then brewing 2-3 cups to have the machine recalibrate the grind amount.

We have an Odea Giro in the office. When we got it I remember the coffee tasted amazing. After few months the taste started to decline and after some time we stopped to use it altogether. I wanted to...

you are supposed to go through the "before first use" instructions....which include filling the resevoir with water and brewing only water until its all gone. then start using the machine normally...remembering that the machine takes a few brew cycles to adjust properly to the coffee being used (this assuming this is the giro plus model which has the feature-"aroma something or other...)

also, descaling would help and removing the brew group and rinsing it out...

Hi, I have a saeco odea giro plus that has just started to leak nearly all of the brewed coffee into the dreg drawer! Any ideas? thanks in advance...

I had a crack in the tube that connected to the brew group that resulted in a similar dumping of coffee in the dregs (and below the dreg drawer and onto the counter) in my Saeco Odea Giro. Replacing the "Saeco Odea Giro Coffee Dispensing Tube, part number 11003468, fixed my problem. You can replace this yourself if you are very handy. These photos are very helpful (The Go seems pretty similar to the Giro.) http://odeago.zxq.net/Odea_Go_Repair/Welcome.html

Cannot reinstall the brew group after cleaning.

If you can remove the brew group easily, it should go back in easily. Make sure the brew group is in neutral position(2 arrows pointed to each other) and the latch behind the unit is in the top position.

Saeco Odea Giro - alarm light continually slow flashing

I had the same problem. I filled everything up and closed it then took the hopper top and placed a small magnet that fit the circumference of the hopper sensor (I took one off of a refrigerator magnet and it fit down into the sensor) and it immediately went green. Hope it works for you.

Saeco Odea Giro - Clogged and coffee come out in water tray....

This has happened to our machine that we use for our youth group. We sent it in and they said it was clogged also. Not having a clue what they meant. It happened again and I figured it out. When you remove the brew group there is a hole just above it that dispenses into the brew group. Make sure it is not clogged. Give it a try Good Luck

Odea giro plus gear that drives the brew group has broken 3 times

First, you're going to need to get the brew group out. Check this out to get the brew group out. You need to remove a screw and pull unless you're really crafty.

This video will help.
After that:

a) Yes, lubing will help.
b) Replace the o-ring on the piston in the brew group (it should be orange). It gets old and gummy creating resistance.
c) Reinforce the weak plastic that gets over-torqued.

I own three of these units, one from 2007 (made in Italy, never broke, has tens of thousands of brews) and two newer units (made in Eastern Europe, fewer brews, both broke). I can distinguish the newer ones because they have a "sleep mode". They really overtorque the gear.

I tried repairing with just glue and that lasted (surprisingly) several months. I tried again by using a thick paperclip as a drill bit and that lasted 7 months.

Now with the holes piloted, I drilled a little wider and put in heavier metal from a heavy-duty binder clip. Cheap and very strong! Let's see how long this lasts.

See before and after pictures. This metal won't bend!
