Canon MP620 won't print -says 'print to file'

When I ask the printer to print the word document open and click on ok -it asks me for the file -'print to file' comes up. I tried unclicking this selection on the options but it still persists with asking me. If i give it a file is just stores it in my documents section but still doesn't print. IfI cancel this request it cancels the print request. I don't understand what has happened because it was printing wirelessly fien before. it will print out a trouble shooter page for me but no documents!!!! i have just updated my Adobe software though -am wondering if this is the issue. What can I do? I am not an expert on computers but have the usual basic knowledge so if you know that answer please take it slow for me! Thanks

Same here -- fails to add a connector during install and assigns the connection to FILE: instead of using a network connection. Printing works via USB though, but that's not what I spend the extra bucks for.

After installation the MP620 in my Lan, it prints fine from one of the pc's, but from another pc in the same LAN it prints only to file, although installation on both pc's was carried out in the same way.

Check paper size refers to the fact your documents are for say and A4 sheet of paper but your drivers properties are set to letter size. Go into the drivers printing preferences and set the paper size to the correct value. All should work fine now.

SOURCE: new printer, blank pages

To remove the printhead:
Ensure that the printer is on and open the printheadcover.
----The printhead holder will move to the center.
Press for some seconds the resume/paperfeed button.
----The printhead holder will move a little to the right.
Press and lift the tiny grey handle now visible at the left and in front of the printhead holder, now you can remove the printhead.

SOURCE: please show me step by step to fix error 5110 in

This is a carriage error.
1. Printhead is stuck to the docking area either because some old ink has become like glue.
2. A piece of paper got over there and is jamming it.
3. The spring is weak and is not pulling the docking area down.
4. The Purge unit has failed and needs to be replaced.
Turn the printer off and then slide the printhead to the left and use a flashlight to see if you see any paper stuck around where the two sponges that where sitting below the prinhead or if it just didn’t lower like it should have.

SOURCE: Canon MP470 will not scan

Hello.

Scanning a document requires the MP Navigator EX software to be installed. If you don't have a copy, select: http://download.cnet.com/MP-Navigator-EX-for-Windows/3000-2094_4-10971618.html Choose Download Now and follow the process to install and run.

Scan pictures or documents using the MP Navigator EX software that was installed from the CD. Start the application, then click the "Scan/Import" button. Select "Photos/Documents (Platen)" to indicate you want to scan items on the scanner bed. Then use the "View & Use" screen to choose what you want to do with the scanned images. You can save them to your hard drive, email them, print them or, if the scanned document was a text image, use the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature to convert the scanned image to text.

Hope this helps.

Try this;
- Open the document you want to print - Go to file > Print - click properties in the print window - in the menu select 'Maintenance' - in the 'Maintenance' click 'Ink Cartridge Settings' - select Black Only - click OK - click OK - now you can print only using the black ink in the printer.

I have a Pixma MP620 connected to Win7, but have wireless access and also use MacBook. Cannot print wirelessly to printer from Mac..........have a solution?

Make sure you have the drivers installed - while there are possibly compatible drivers that came with your MacBook, it may not work properly out of the box.

Download them from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp620#DriversAndSoftware. Make sure you choose "MP Drivers for Network". Do not install yet, but open the package file.

The next step requires a USB cable. You need to connect the MacBook to the printer and only then start to install the drivers by clicking the Setup icon.

You should do the 'Easy Install', if you get asked for it. When the installer asks to restart the machine, do so.

Once the machine restarts, you'll get a window for the 'Canon IJ Network Tool'. Click for 'Lan Connection', and then OK.

You'll want to click the 'Register Printer' button next. You may get a 'Cancel Setup' screen, just cancel that out.

The next part requires waiting. After a bit - really, it was different for all three computers, so I can't say how long - you'll get an 'Add Printer' screen. Choose 'Canon MP620 series', and click add.

On the Canon iJ Network Scanner Selector screen, set the pulldown for "Canon MP620 series Network', and then click the MAC Address (there should be only one) and cick 'Apply'. Make sure the check mark is displayed, then click exit.

That should register your laptop as allowed with your printer. Turn off the printer, disconnect the USB cable, turn the printer back on and you should be able to use it.

Printer sends me to print to file instead of printing.I am using canon PIXMA MP620 all-in-one wireless printer. I have gone through the troubleshooting and still no result. Linda

First of all, make sure it is the default printer. Now, in a word or exel or similar programs, select the print option, near the properties button you will see ¨print to file¨, click the down arrow and select ¨Canon PIXMA MP620.... or similar option and print.

Open your Adobe Acrobat (e.g., 9.0 Pro), load your pages into the document feeder (fewer than 30 at a time), then ask Adobe Acrobat to create PDF from scanner (File/Create PDF/From Scanner). Canon MP530 as the scanner and click OK. Works like a charm!
