1. Click Contacts from your Email page to open your list of Contacts.
2. Go to the one you wish to remove and check the box next to it.
3. Go to the top of the list and click the Delete button.

If you are trying to delete a contact, delete them from your email address book first. This error usually comes up when you try to delete a contact from messenger first.
I have since found out that you have to actually go into your contacts under yahoo mail and delete them from that list, then it deletes them from your messenger. Found this solution on another website. Hope this helps anyone else who is having that problem.

by deleting yahoo messenger program you will not lose any contacts but u may lose the history but before removing the messenger you can always save the history in a text file.
when i delete this contact and close yahoo messenger it reappears
