Can you install two powered subwoofers to an onyko tx-sr 608 receiver 7.1

  • Onkyo USA Apr 17, 2015

As this receiver has 2 subwoofer pre-outs; you should have no problem connecting 2 subwoofers to this receiver.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SV525 Receiver subwoofer pre out no sound

Yes turing on the "A" speaker is required for the Onkyo, but that only turns on the 2 front speakers in the "A" speaker jacks.

You may also need to check and see if the Onkyo has a menu selection in the setup menu that will turn on the sub woofer output on the back of the receiver.

I have seen on countless occasions where people just have a hard time finding that sub woofer option on their receiver.

I do not have the manuals for this Onkyo, so I can not tell you the exact way to find it.

I have been repairing surround receivers since they have been on the market and beleive me, you are not alone in this situation.

Sometimes it seems like you need a Phd. in programming or something similar just to firgure out how to set one of these up.

The solution should be in your owners manual, with the problem then being, just where in the manual. Go slowly thru it paying the closest attention to anything about set up procedures.

I have also seen at times where the setup for the sub-woofer is not listed as sub-woofer, but as "LFE" (low frequency effect) . So keep your eyes open for that.

something else, your sub woofer may have an auto turn on. That means it will only turn on if it detects an input signal. Make sure yo uhave the volume up enough on the receiver to trigger that auto turn on if yours has one.

I would like to have been more help, but without the manuals I can only give you general type thngs to look for. These type of receivers are all so different and all so complicated to operate. The days of just turning on a stereo, selecting your source and turning up the volume seem to be over.

Let me know if you need any more assistance from me.

Dave

p.s. Very nice system you have, when you get the Kef working I think you are going to just love this system. and Onkyo has the best quality receivers in their price range.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR 606 KEEPS CLICKING INSTEAD OF TURNING ON WHEN POWERED

Here are your options:

1. An electrical problem, where your receiver has a grounding problem.
2. Your speaker wire connections are actually touching each other and that's why your receiver is not turning on.

SOURCE: bose 901 iwht tx-sr 706

You will need to connect the speakers to the front channels as you would with any normal set(Speaker + to amp +, speaker - to amp -, etc) then you connect the special Bose equalizer through a tape monitor loop and always have the monitor loop engaged.

SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

SOURCE: Buzzing/vibration noise from ONYKO TX-SR506 unit

If the unit is under warranty, DO NOT open it up. Bring it in for an exchange or warranty service. Explain that the unit makes noise during use and it will be serviced. This could be as simple as a bad connection in the power supply area and you are hearing oscillations or it could be a defective power transformer. Either case will be covered under warranty so there should be no charge to you.

How to connect non-powered subwoofer to Onyko tx-nr656

None powered subs have to be connected via the front speaker wires. There should be terminals on the sub, to split the wires of the speaker and to take a new set of wires to the speakers.

I have a Onyko TX-SR303 5.1 Receiver and sound is only coming out of left front speaker.

Could be the IC that controls the various sound/surround channel modes. Had that happen on my Pioneer receiver.

User manual pioneer tx 608

A TX-608 is an old school tuner with one knob and two switches. You hook up some antennas and RCA cables and manually tune it. The manual, if available, would be more like a pamphlet.

Try web searching "pioneer tx 608 manual". Lots of service manuals out there.
