My machine is a Nuova Simonelli Mac 2000v Espresso Machine, not the mac 2000
You can drain your machine by removing the plugging screw in the drain spout. You can see this screw where the drain water all go. it is a black plastic square thing where your drain hose is connected. After removing the plug, you have to open the bypass valve beside it and open all steam valve to make air come in. make sure the machine is cold.

I have the same machine. I just went on the coffee geeks website and it is easily solved. Just add a few grains of salt to the reservoir - the sensor cant detect water that is purified - strange but true as four grains and it fired up just like that.

I had the same problem of the boiler filling up all the way with water and the water was coming out of every hole in the machine. Turn the machine off, drain the boiler completely,
MAKE SURE VALVE #2 is CLOSED, this is the one under the drip pan all the way to the left. Turn on the water supply to the system and turn the system ON. The cup warmer on top will come on and stay on for anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes..... let it be,,, do not turn it OFF,, it will go off automatically. That should do it!

Either the brew solenoid is bad or the shower screen is blocked or the metering jet on the top of the head is clogged.

First check the reset thermostat on the right side of the boiler below the level probe, make sure there is water in the boiler before resetting.
