Possibly heater fault....if you set unit to, for example, a 40 degree wash, the machine will just keep washing unit it reaches selected temp, then drain and do the rinses. If the heater is open circuit then it will wash and wash and wash until the module times out because it is not getting there and continue to rinses, making the programs excessively long. (You may also find, if it has a display that it sit at 0.01 for a long time at the end of the cycle. Not sure of your model as you have not posted it, but if you go through the test below you can test the heater.
1. Put main dial to off
2. Press and hold start button whilst turning dial one click to left (easycare 30).
3. When display show 8.88 or two of the progress light come on, release the start button
4. Turn dial anticlockwise to 90 cotton (take the long way, NOT thru OFF or you'll have to start over)
5. Press start
The tub will fill a little and if the heater is ok, after a few minutes you will hear it 'kettling', the drum does not turn during this test.
If you have a meter that checks amp draw, if the heater is ok it should read around 9 amps.
Hope this helps
SOURCE: I have a problem with
Hi When washing machine takes a longer time than usual to finish it's cycle then there are few factors that cause such malfunction. 1. The water inlet is blocked or restricted. 2.There is a water heating problem, usually thermostat not detecting temperature correctly. 3.There is a drain blockage and drain takes longer than usual.4. The pressure switch used to detect water level is defective, and timer board does not detect that drain is complete and keeps draining for a while. Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.
Check for blockage at water inlet valve .Try moving the machine and check the inlet hose at the back, ensure that there is pressure, that the hose is not restricted or blocked.
To test the thermostat it must be tested by removing parts from washer and using a multimeter.
Also check the drain pump. On most front loader models this is accessible opening a panel at the front lower side of the washer, under the door. On top loads the pump is accessed from behind (also some top loader), and from underneath the washer. Instructions are often described in the manual. The hose or filter housing can be removed to check for blockage.
The pressure switch is replaced when there is long drain or water level related problems.

Hi,
this is actually a two part answer/clarification. The problem here is there are several factors which may contribute to a long cycle, and the other thing is this, one has to define "long", it depends what one has become accustomed to prior to this experience doesn`t it ?
I`d start with the obvious, have you insured you are using only "HE" detergent, if not...problem solved. How so ? you may ask.
These washer`s ( Bosch as well as all other front loaders ) absolutely have to be used with only lo-sudsing ( or as we refer to it now "HE" detergent ) with no exceptions regardless of what anyone has led one to believe, friends, family, sales people. If anyone tell`s another one "regular detergent is ok" but, "just use less", or "use liquid", etc...they are all mis-informed and it is not true. They may not have had not had troubles...yet. It`s not a question of if, but when. I can say with absolute certainty a front load wash machine not being used with "HE" are not performing to nearly it`s full potential.
The other possibility is overloading or even UNDERloading. Insure you have "like garments" washed together as well as equal amounts/mass. If only washing small loads such as a single item, add another of equal mass to even the weight distribution during the rinse/spin.
This simple advice can shorten a load time by as much as 30min. or more if followed.
If all else fails you may have an issue with excessive vibration due to improper water inlet hookups, ( make sure hot goes to hot and cold goes to cold...it really matters big time ) poor drainage, (obstruction in the pump ) or a insufficiently balanced washer.
As you can see many factors can determine the duration of a cycle, but many can be ruled out or remedied easily as well.
Let me know if you require further assistance and good luck.
Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your solutions. Please take a moment and rate this solution accordingly or as I said, if you need more assistance post back here.

The likely cause is that the channel through which the water flows into the detergent drawer is clogged-up with congealed black gunk that has built up from the debris in the water supply. The channel that feeds the fabric softener section (middle bit) is actually quite narrow, hence it doesn't take much build-up of gunk to stop the flow of water.
Try taking out the detergent drawer and with a brush, try scrubbing the underside of the 'keep' where the drawer goes into, to remove any black gunk that has built-up in the holes where the water jets out from.
If this doesn't work, then try the following. It will take you between 1-2 hours depending on skill and you will need a couple of tools to help you do it. I am by no means great at DIY, but I managed to do it by myself in about 1.5 hrs. Here goes:
Try the following, it worked for me:
(disconnect the power and water supply before you start)
1. Take out the detergent tray
2. Remove the contol panel from the front of the washer (need a 'Star' shaped screwdriver to do so - 2 different sizes)
3. Take off the top of the washing machine.
4. Remove the plastic 'keep' that the detergent drawer slides into. This can be a bit fiddly and you will need to detach the 2 water hoses that feed into the keep. For this you will need a pair of plyers to pinch together the hose clips that are holding the hoses in-place. You may also need to detatch the strip of the metal that runs along the edge of the front of the washer in order to get the 'keep' out.
5. Once you have removed the 'keep', look at the underside (the bit with all the cross-shaped holes that the water flows through). You will notice that this is actually two layers - you need to split this apart. No need for any tools - perhaps just a knife to run-along the edge where the 2 parts are hooked-into each other. Again this can be a bit fiddly - but it is essential.
6. Clean it! Clean away all the black gunk that has bulit-up. This is the MAIN part of the job.
7. Reassemble and you should be good to go!
GOOD LUCK!
Matt
SOURCE: Bosch maxx6 service manual. Cannot find one to
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
???
I'm so sorry but this forum is not able, nor in a position, to supply any type of service manual, parts list, installation instructions, electrical or schematic diagrams direct; it's just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home and from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)
Also members on Fixya are not 'affiliated' to, or representative of, any manufacturer at all, just using their experience gained probably over many years.
Have you tried the manufacturer's web site direct? Unfortunately many will supply only to registered agents/engineers for obvious reasons;-0)
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
