Network problem in COMPAQ presario V3000

In Device Manager click the tiny arrow beside Network Adapters. This where the wireless card should be listed.
Next, locate the row of small icons just below the View tab at the top of Device Manager window.. Click the icon on the right "Scan for Hardware Changes".
Check again under Network Adapters to see if the wireless card is listed.
Or, check for any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager list. An item might be named Unknown Device. Double-click it and select Update Driver.

You will have to open up your network connections Click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled. Make sure your antivirus program is not blocking the internet connection. If you are trying to connect through a modem/router you it should have come with a disk then you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question ? exclamation mark ! or a red X right click install drivers. the driver should be on the disk supplied by your isp internet service supplier
click start control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down network adapters + expand Ethernet driver right click update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties general you will have the options to troubleshoot or to update driver,rollback or uninstall
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver right click to install driver

if you mean that you cant get any sound on your computer
control panel sounds and audio,volume you can adjust the volume or advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the right speakers or control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to sound,video and game cotrollers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

You need to download the video drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

check your device manager if there s any yellow question mar or exclamation point and check the desription of that device. If no question mark it means that you dont have any device driver needed to be installed, there might be a specific bluetooth device that is added on your Bluetoooth Devices that is not on. Go to bluetooth devices then remove it ffrom the list,

your network adapter driver is not installed. Install it and then have a look . open device manager and in that look for network adapters if u can see there then ur driver is installed successfully..

There is a known problem and being out of warranty isn't the end of it. You may be able to get them to fix it or try this yourself.

There are Vista and XP versions of the installers and the drivers and the bios is different depending on whether you have an AMD or an Intel processor, so be careful which items you attempt. Good luck.

On mine, I had to update the bios, uninstal the old hp wireless assistant and uninstall the wireless driver from My Computer (right mouse click) Properties - Device Manager - Network Adapters, then I installed the latest HP wireless assistant from above page and the latest Intel wireless adapter from above. Check the position of your wireless switch on the front lip of the laptop. One way should make the light go blue, for on, the other shows amber for off. If you are in the bad state pre fix, both positions will show amber. HP assistant will show the device is disabled, but you won't be able to do anything for it as there will likely be yellow tags on all the network adapters.
Mine works now, but I'm having other issues with installing SP1 for Vista. Anyway, hope this helps

I will assume that your broadcom adapter is not showing up under Device Manager > Network Adapters. It will happen if the driver is not properly installed.

Look for "Other Devices" under Device Manager. Usually, it will show as Network Controller or Ethernet Controller. Right click that and select update driver. Make sure that you have the driver or file for that adapter. Once the driver is properly installed, it will be under Network Adapter with the correct name.

Please check whether the Wireles s button is on and there are any yellow marks in the device manager.

Click start and select Run. In the Run box type devgmgmt.msc and press enter. This will open device manager. Then click on + sign next to network adapters and check whether the wireless adapter listed and any yellow marks beside it.

If there is no yellow marks beside the wireless adapter and it is listed in the device manager. Then try to install Wireless drivers and reconfigure wireless network.
