I think C4200 is your printer series rather than model number. You can however download drivers for all the printers in this series (C4205, C4270, C4272, C4280) from here:
If you are not able to get the software drivers for the C4200 Series then Click on the following Link HP C4200 Series Select your Product and then select the Software & Driver downloads option from the left
There may be a small piece of either paper or dust on the sensor. Using a can of compressed air blow out the full paper path. If you still have an issue after that you may need some servicing.
I'm afraid my solution was a very untechnical one - I tore off the damaged pieces of paper that I could reach, then spent a very long time gently pulling on individual pieces of paper, which were at first jammed solid, until at last one "gave", and I was able to withdraw the other pieces.
I'm sure there must be an easier way by dismantling something, but I didn't want to do that without advice.
