Can't get it to work

I have my main computer that is connected to the internet through my cable company. I bought the dynex wireless g usb network adapter so that my daughter could connect in her room. It's not working and right now I'm really confused. My cable company installed a netgear router and that is what my main internet comes through on. Now when I hook this up, I install the cd on her computer right? That is what I did. everything looks like it installed right and the computer detected the wireless card when I plugged it in, I just can't get hers to connect to the internet

You mentioned, "Now when I hook this up, I install the cd on her computer right?" My question is if you installed software from the Netgear CD or if you installed software from the DynexCD?

The wireless adapter has to be configured to locate and use your wireless connection. This can be a time consuming process depending on if the connection is encrypted or if it is broadcasting a signal which your adapter can't decode. I'll definitely try to help you get it working, but it won't be a quick process.

I had the wireless working with dynex card before the virus hit the computer. The virus is fixed, but the internet does not work.

Connecting Dynex N Router to Webstar cable modem ( DPC2100R2) Not getting internet signal on computer...says cable is unplugged...

That message is coming from your wired adapter. This is the wireless one. Open the wireless zero configuration utility and pick a network to connect to (make sure you type the password in right, if you have one). Also if your password changed recently, you may have to delete the network from your computer and re establish the connection again.

If this is a new connection for you, you will need to open a command window. Start->Run and type cmd. In there type "ipconfig /all" without quotes, mind the spacing. Find the wireless connection and see if you have an IP address. If not, try another USB port, uninstall and reinstall the device driver, test this on another computer if possible.

i have seen issues with wireless USB adapters. Can you try another USB port on the computer? Also delete the adapter and let it br reinstalled. If this does not help, I would suggest returning it and getting a Linksys adapeter.

100+ mbps??!!

According to your user manual pg 2 & 23 (bottom) your device only operates at 54mbps and Pre-N works at 108mbps. The factory ranges can be misleading because their tests are under optimal conditions that we as users will never have.

No connection with wireless router

Have you tried using an ethernet cable instead of a USB cable? USB connections for internet traffic aren't always the best.
If you can make the change to ethernet and then open your command prompt and type ipconfig /all and tell me what ipaddress, subnet mask, and default gateway it says.

D-link dir 615 ; can't get other desktop to read wireless network

Please understand as I get very basic to start but things very obvious to you I cannot see.

Generally when including a router in a home network starting from the cable (tv) or the phone socket (dsl) in the wall with a phone wire plugged in. The next box is generally provided by your internet service provider and is a modem/something that connects to the phone line or cable. Then sometimes when only one computer exists computers are directly connected to the modem with an ethernet cable (looks like a fat phone wire with oversize connectors) or a USB cable (small flat retangular ends).

When you want to add a router for multiple computers. The computer gets disconnected. If a USB cable was used it is often replaced with an ethernet cable and that cable connects to the WAN port (probably separate from a block of 4 lan ports) of the router you bought (tell me if you have two routers -- that is a different problem). If your service comes from a cable (tv) company your router may already be properly configured. If however you have DSL service from the phone company the chances your router is correctly configured are less. To finish with the cabling story -- your computer then hooks to one of probably 4 LAN ports all in a block. Now if you are lucky power on all devices and boot up your computer and see if you have internet access. If you do great if not please provide me the name of your internet service provider or a link to their help/support website and I will see what I can do to assist in completing the router setup. Until your wired computer gets access to the internet your girls wireless connections will not work either. Once we get the wired connection working we will address the wireless connections.
If necessary unplug the router and plug the computer back into the original cable until we get the router working.
