Turn machine on and on/off light turns green. Coffee/steam light also then turns green. When I press coffee dispensing button, coffee/steam light flickers for about 10 seconds until warning light turns red. I've checked brew group, water, door closed, grinds box, and that there is coffee beans in container. Everything appears OK.
I have the same problem. I'm wondering if cleaning the fine filter screen will help, (perhaps it's clogged and the pump can't push the coffee through), but I'm going to have to find the little handle to unscrew and remove it.I have the same problem. That is exactly what I would've suggested, the brew unit is clogged. remove brew unit and try to blow through the top, if you get through then check the bottom. One of the chambers must be clogged. Another question is the coffee extract wet or dry grounds? If wet then the block is on the top, if dry it ids on the bottom.

There is another process to get into descale mode on some 7.1 machines. I got this from Illy Support: Descale Cycle • Turn off machine • So the usual filling if container with descale fluid • Turn machine on and within 15 seconds from power on – press and hold in the big cup button until it gives 4 acoustic signals and then release your finger. • The big blue cup button should now be flashing • Press the big blue cup button once – the machine will now dispense water intermittently from the coffee group head and the steam arm and the steam and coffee button will be flashing alternately • Once the descaling cycle has completed it will give out a long acoustic signal • The coffee button will continue to flash Rinsing Cycle • Remove the water tank – wash out and fill with clean fresh water just over the MAX level • Empty the container holding 1 litre of water and reinstate back under coffee group head and point steam arm in container. • Press the flashing big cup button once • Water will again dispense intermittently from group head and steam arm • An acoustic signal will sound out as soon as the rinsing cycle is complete. • The Big Blue coffee button will be steadily lit • Remove 1 litre container. • Remove water tank – clean and refill with clean water
–red light should now be off and ready to make coffee
Coffee machines that are not maintained daily will clog up if residue coffee is left in the machine to dry up. Steam boilers tend to crust up as the calcium in the water drops out of solution and coats the tank, pipes, and valves. These are the most common problems which require a repairman. Most home machines do not have serviceable parts.

Push "Off" on the coffee maker's control panel. Unplug the coffee maker, and allow the machine to cool down completely. Remove the coffee bean container by lifting up on it and sliding it out. Wipe it out daily with a damp cloth, and slide it back into the coffee maker. Press down on the handle to click the container into place.
Dump out the water in the water container,Wipe out the water container with a damp cloth. Refill the water container with clear drinking water.
Remove the dump box and drip tray, and empty them.Wipe each one down with a damp cloth. Open the service door and push "Press." Remove the brew group by its handle, and rinse if off in a sink with hot water. Use the key provided to unscrew the plastic pin holding the metal filters together. Rinse each one separately. Put the filter back together and dry the separate parts with a towel.
Mix a package of descaler with the water in the water container every four to six months to rid the coffee machine of mineral deposits. Plug in the coffee machine, and select "On." Select the "Hot Water" button, and position the steam valve over the drip tray. Dispense two thirds of the descaler and water into a container in 15 minute intervals by turning the steam valve counterclockwise to dispense and clockwise to shut off the flow.
Let the coffee machine heat up fully, and then dispense the remaining descaler and water by turning the steam valve counterclockwise to empty the water container. Press "Off" to turn the machine off.
If this does not work then you might require a technician.
If you don't have a manual I hope this helps. You can make coffee without "Descale"ing it but it is recommended you don't go too long without doing it.
- Make sure that the filled water container is in the appliance.
- Turn the program selector to "On" with lighting and place a container under the hot water spout and another under the steam spout.
- Press the hot water button, turn the steam selector counterclockwise and dispense hot water until it flows in quiet, continuous streams.
- Press the hot water button again. Turn the steam selector clockwise to o, to turn off the water.
Fill the water tank. - Turn the program selector to "On with light" and place containers below the hot water dispenser and the steam nozzle. - Press the hot water button, turn the steam selector counterclockwise and let water run out until it streams steadily. - Press the hot water button again. Turn the steam selector to "o" to shut off the water. ENJOY YOUR COFFEE
Circuit Priming When the machine operates for the first time and when all the water has been dispensed, the machine circuit needs priming. In this case, the 4 buttons of the control panel will flash at the same time. • Press the ON/OFF button . The 4 buttons will flash. • Place a container under the cappuccinatore. • Open the "hot water/steam" knob by turning it anticlockwise. • Press the hot water button. • Wait for water dispensing to stop. • Close the "hot water/steam" knob by turning it clockwise. Remove the container. When the first priming ends, the warming up starts. Before brewing coffee, water and steam, please wait for lights 15 and 16 to be permanently on. The machine is now ready to brew coffee and dispense steam. Please see related sections for operating details. Note: if priming is not completed, the 4 buttons will keep on fl ashing. The machine cannot be used.
I switch the machine on and the green light (number
24) flashes to indicate it is warming up but it never gets there it just
keeps flashing for at least half an hour.
Standard descaling
Switch off the machine.
Pour a descaling product into the water tank.
Switch the machine on to the programming mode(see below). Place a large container under the steam/hot water dispensing tube and open the steam/hot water knob slowly, turning it counterclockwise.
Turn on the machine by pressing the main switch and let the descaling product flow out of the dispensing tube for approx. 1 min.
Close the knob again.
Turn off the machine with the main switch and let the solution take effect for approx. 5 minutes.
Repeat this procedure two or three times, to allow all of the descaling product in the water tank to flow out of the dispensing tube.
As soon as descaling has been carried out, rinse the tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
Switch on the machine and let fresh water (approx. 2 l) flow out of the steam/hot water dispensing tube in order to rinse away residue.
The machine is now ready for operation.
When the machine is on, the warning light switches off automatically, by pressing the steam selection button for at least 5 seconds.
To enter the programming mode, turn the machine
off with the main switch.
Press steam , espresso coffee and the
main switch at the same time.
