I have 2 problems with my lg hb 966trw: a)

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

No power
  1. Check if the power cord has been properly connected to the power outlet.
  2. Check if the main power has been switched on.
(DVD player's power supply transformer could be burned out)
Screen is "frozen" or completely black, or Power button does not work
  1. Try turning the power off and wait 3 seconds before turning it on again.
  2. Make sure the TV and VCR (if connected) are set to the correct channel or line.
Does not play disc
  1. No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
  2. Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
  3. Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
  4. Disc type is not the correct type to play.
  5. Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
  6. Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.
No sound
  1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
  2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
  3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
  4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.
  5. If the DTS soundtrack is enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc Menu.
switching regions:
    • 1
Turn on your DVD player.
    • 2
Open the DVD player's main drive, also commonly called the DVD "tray." The region cannot be changed while a DVD is in the machine, so many DVD players require the tray to be open as an extra precaution.
    • 3
Push "Info" or "Setup" on your remote.
    • 4
Use the remote to select the "Region" option as indicated on your TV screen.
    • 5
Select "Region 9" to change the system to multiregion formatting. Regions 1 through 8 represent specific geographic locations and will not allow multiregion playback.

How to get unit to play without remote

You can probably use the front panel buttons (STOP PLAY OPEN/CLOSE etc) manually, the only thing you cannot do without the remote is access certain DVD menus, including subtitles/language/special features etc. You can always obtain and use a universal remote for basic menu functions later on if necessary.

To play a DVD movie without the remote, simply load your preferred disc, wait for the player to finish reading its contents, then to skip copyright warnings and/or the 'play movie' menu screen, press STOP, then PLAY, or simply press PLAY button where 'play movie' (or whatever function) is highlighted in the menu. These buttons should be on the front of the main unit. Doing this should encourage the player to detect the appropriate title (the movie) and play it (basic playback operation may not be possible with some DVD releases due to the numerous interactive menus and title pages, such as film trailers).

If basic manual operation is not completely possible with some DVD titles, consider a universal remote for your player if you have either lost your original, or the player was purchased/received without one. Such remotes are relatively inexpensive to purchase, and are available just about everywhere.

My sister and I just purchased Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition that includes the dvd and blu ray disc. When we put on the blu ray disc it played the previews in the beginning and then went to the main...

If you hit "Disc Menu" on the remote just as the fireworks start, you won't have to go through the entire Previews section, and then the disc seems to work fine...

Lost remote control. Cann I play dvd without it?

As long as you have a play button on you dvd player you shouldn't have any issues playing the main movie, you may not be able to navigate to different menu options from with on the dvd it's self.

You may want to look into obtaining a universal remote you can pick on up at your local electronics store and are fairly cheap.

Dvd disc recorded on dvd recorder wont play on any other dvd players

make sure you have 'finalized' the disc.. this prepares the DVD in a special way to be used on other players... without finalization the disc is almost just like an extra disc drive and you can continue adding material until it is full

'Finalize Disc' will be a menu option in your writing software but it may be called something else but whatever it is there should be a little explanation attached to it explaining that it is to 'finish' the disc for use on another player

I have a dvd recorder/player Rca DRC8052N

you need the crack ! it seems that your players might have a onboard misfonction! it maybe coded for region 2,3 who knoes anyway try this its a workaround that usually works on lots of dvd players to unlock regions !

Press the title button on your remote, then hit 01. This will take you to the first title on the disc and bypass the region lock. To get to the main menu, do a chapter/title skip until you get to the end of the disc. This will take you to the main menu.

2.Go to Scene Selection and press your Enter or Ok button on your DVD player remote.
3.Highlight Scene 2 and press the Enter or Ok button. This will start the DVD in Scene 2.
4.Use your rewind or reverse button on your DVD player remote to rewind back to the beginning of Scene 1.
