Each speaker has two pairs of hook wires to be hooked to back of receiver. Can they be hooked together since there is only one hook up on the back of the receiver for each speaker?
Yes you can. these are called "bi wired" speakers which means there's a hook up for the woofer and the tweeter individually. If your amp have just 2 speaker hookups it's no problem to hook the woofer/tweeter wires of each speaker together. If your amp had 4 speaker hookups, you could put the tweeters in 1 and the woofers in the other but it will still work fine with 2 speaker hookups.

If your tv is putting out mono you will only get the center and sub speakers. This can be because the tv is only mono, or the output is set to mono in a menu of the tv. If you have cable or sat run the digital audio out to you receiver; it usually sound better that way anyhow. Set your receiver to Dolby mode for best sound.

Generally, crackling noises come from anyplace there is a mechancial connection for the sound signal. The volume control, main/remote speaker switch and possibly the headphone jack. That is where the contacts must be cleaned, but it requires dissassembly. Try operating the main/remote speaker switches, and plug/unplug a headphone several times. I am assuming there is still audio behind that crackling. Are you using both main and remote speakers simultaneously?

HI pull down the flap on your amp and you will see buttons for zone 2 settings,press zone2 then level up this should work.

Go into the manual setup on the GUI then go to the zone 2 and zone 3 setup. If you are using only the power from the receiver to power the speakers, make sure the setting is for Zone 3 amp "INT" if you still have no volume, on the front of the receiver look at the display, make sure "zone 3" is lit up then use the small remote and turn up the vol. if it's on you will see "zone 3 vol" and the bar going up it should be ok. if it says "fixed" it thinks you have an external volume control, if you do, make sure it's "on" at about 12 o'clock and test. If not, you need to switch it in the on screen "menu" or "GUI" button, follow to zone 2 & 3 vol control and make sure it is set to variable. If you still have no vol post a comment and we can dig further. Hope this helps

You can use a hi-level to low-level adapter. Just remember, the Yamaha does not send power (wattage) to the sub, just signal. You need to use a subwoofer that has an amplifier either externally or built in.
