How to adjust the timing on a 1986 Honda TRX-250R

There is a kick start gear that goes on them often if not kicked properly all the time. ., pull case check for damage ( metal chips flakes broken gears teeth ext ext ) see if that's it ., dose it shift through the gears dose it run if pop started , careful starting it as if it's running and there is damaged kick start gears that could cause a lot more damage...?.

1986 Honda XL600R How To Adjust The Valves

instructions still valid for a 250 . ring local Honda dealer for clearances

Set motor to TDC compression stroke. Watch intake valve open and close.. when it closes continue to turn to timing mark.

the distributor has three bolts holding it tight against the engine head you will have to loosen them using a 12 millimeter wrench and then you can turn the distributor to advance or ****** the timing.

might need to have the valves adjusted i would take it in and get it looked at
