Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Almost always, your described problem does not indicate a faulty main fuse. Since the Sanyo TV will still power up even momentarily, then that would mean the power is entering the TV and reaching the electronics inside. The automatically powering off is a design feature and part of the built-in protection system. It means there is a fault and the TV shuts itself down to prevent further damages.
This of course requires opening the TV unit, familiarity with electronic circuitry & components, use of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings would be to your advantage. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet then would be to seek the services of an authorized Service Center or a qualified professional. Doing so would provide you with a quote and thereafter you can re-evaluate your options and consider repair or replace.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back for additional information or updates on any developments.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
As you have asked for the comment where is the fuse.so fuse is located on the main board of the tv.its like a mini tube light.and transperant.but you sain in your first comment that tv turns on then turns off automatically.that means there is power in tv.but if the fuse is blown out or faulty then no power will come in the tv.it will first off all not turn on.still the fuse is on the main board you will have to open its back section to remove the main board.the other problem can be short circuit in the board and other problem can be also the power outlet where the tv is connected try out in any other power outlet and see if same problem occurs or it is working.if you r familiar with using multimeters and soldering iron then you can manually try reparing other wise you can get it repaired at local repair center.
Hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you. friend if you turn it on using your remote? and it will turn it off? the problem is in your remote control try to see if all the buttons are not hit the board or if your remote control is not shorted.or short circuit because when it is it will shut off because the commands will have corruption. 2nd try to check if your tv settings is not set to auto off in a second because when it is setted in auto shut off just a little/short time. obviously it will off then. so try to check both of the two.it will help your problem solved.good luck.
For first unplug the main power cord of the tv for couple of minutes and then reconnect it.also before reconnecting the power cord of the tv again remove all the external device wires connected at its back such as dvd player/vcr etc etc.just connect only tv wire and check out.if still the same problem then its quite possible that the capacitors and ic on the circuit board are getting short in between so the circuit is not getting completed and cutting in between so the tv starts and turns off.in this case the circuit board needs to be checked with a multimeter.the faulty and burned out component part should be detected and then should be replaced with the help of soldering iron.to make it proper.to avoid further damage i suggest you that do not on the tv again and again as it will short some more tiny components and the reparing cost will increase as per that.at present its the normal circuit short problem in the tv get it repaired before using the tv again.
Its either the problem with power outlet or the components on the main board are faulty and needs board repairs.
Hi!
Please try and use it in a diffrent power outlet. If it doesn't work then there is a short circuit inside the tv that is blowing the circuit breaker.
The shut off is caused by the protection ciruit sensing too much current being drawn by some part of the tv and shuts down the power ON relay turning the set OFF. It is a protection measure to keep the set from doing serious damage to itself.
Can you hear a high pitched sound?
If yes then the high pitch screeching is the horizontal flyback transformer with loose windings; it has failed and the high voltage to the picture tube has been diverted and placed a big load on the power supply, causing the protection circuit to go into auto-OFF.

If you can open up your tv and see for any burnt components then please see that. And, if you think the TV is too old to get it repaired for around $150 or so, then i will suggest you to buy a new one.

First Try reset .
Unplug the unit from power chord for 30 minutes and plug back the power chord to the unit .
This will reset your unit .
Then check fuse and backlight .
It also indicates power supply problem.
Its the problem in main board the components getting overheated.needs to be checked with a meter .
That's probably a main fuse problem which is currently open due to over voltage or power surge. You need to check that if it's burned and replace it.

Where do we find the fuse
is it worth fixing or should we just buy a new one. We would not know what to test
