What is a 5e code on the Samsung dishwasher mean ?

According to Samsung it is a drain error. Best advice from Samsung is: Check whether the drain hose is clogged or folded. If the problem continues, close the water supply valve, and then contact an authorized Samsung service center.

My drain hose was not clogged or folded and the error code would go away at best for a day of so. Finally, it would not go away at all. My solution was to simply go to e-bay and for $27 had a new pump shipped to me. Less than 15 minutes to change out and no problem since.

Be aware that the new pump may make noise for the first few runs, but this goes away. I figure the pump just needed to run in for a bit.

Pump is on bottom. Remove and invert dishwasher. Remove screws holding bottom plastic cover and pump is right there. Unhook the wire harness to the sensor in the plastic cover. Remove the wires to the pump (two different wires, I would make a note of where each color went). Turn the pump about a quarter turn to the left and it comes right off. Put the new pump in the same position as the pump was when removed. Push in and turn to the right until it locks in place. Replace wires to pump and the plastic cover. Screw plastic cover in place, turn the dishwasher back upright and reinstall. Once in place and all plumbing and electrical connections reconnected it should work without a hitch.

Flashing but nothing happening

A-- If you hear the water filling for 3 minutes before the lights flash, 2 things could be happening:
a.1) water never reached the proper fill/run level so the computer prevents the heater from starting and alerts the user. There should be a code list in the troubleshooting section of the user manual describing the blinking lights and what they mean.
Solution- verify by sound if water flows at the same rate as the sink tap, if not then shut off the water and check the inside the connection hose for debris against the screen inside the hose end or insid ethe machine end where there is a intake valve. The debris keeps sediment out so it works but there's no auto cleaner for the screen.
a.2) Otherwise the heater itself is faulty meaning it does not conduct an electrical path or maybe overheating (could be dry) and the computer senses the wrong temperature either too high or too low.
Solution- A service call to determine the reason why; heater continuity, water valve, heater relay, hi-temp fuse, etc.

B-- Now, if you do NOT hear water filling for those first 3 minutes, 3 things could be happening;
b.1) House water supply is turned off.
b.2) hose is clogged (see solution a.1 above)
b.3) Drain pump inside dishwasher was clogged during the last run and old water didn't drain out (maybe some water is evident in the tub bottom).
Solution- Most dishwashers start each wash cycle with 30 second drain pump running to make sure the tub is completely emptied so the next fill cycle can't overfill. This ensures that if the user finds a 3 liter pot that flipped over during the last wash and if they dump that full pot of water into the unit to make it lighter, that the water will get drained before the new water enters the tub.
If the drain pump is clogged reset the power and restart the wash cycle. Note how much water is in the tub and see if it goes down any during those 30 seconds by opening the door afterwards. Find the clog either a bone or plastic bag or some small pice of a childs toy is stuck in the drain pump or the other end is clogged maybe by grease or bones if you have a sink disposal unit. The things they grind up drop into the drain 1" inch above the hole for the dishwasher drain tube.
NOTE: There is also an overfill [float] switch if the water inlet valve gets stuck open and the water keeps filling, the drain pump is switched on until someone comes and shuts off the water supply. When the tub drains the float drops and the drainpump stops. This will also make lights blink so check the user manual for codes or call the factory service reps [1-877-337-3639].
Either way, there should be instructions to reset the machine for restart. If it doesn't reset you need someone to fix the control that tripped the unit, maybe a safety fuse or a broken piece of the puzzle.

I have an lg 1415 dishwasher .. it started on a wash ,but stopped 2 mins in beeping with 'OE" flashing .water pooled at the bottom not draining. watt does "OE' mean .. and is it blocked ?...

Hi michelle_133,

The "OE" error code you are seeing, means "Outlet Error"

The drain pump is either clogged, or the outlet hose has been kinked.
- Inspect the Drainage hose at the back for kinks. - If any, straighten the hose
- Open the unit, and at the bottom sump check the small drain pump area for any foreign object that may be obstructing it. It has small holes that **** water away after the main wash, and while rinsing. Foodstuff may be blocking these holes, also remember to clean the filter after every wash.

Kind Regards :-)

My LG LDF6920St has not been cleaning very well recently and there was an odor and grease left in the bottom after a wash. I pulled it out and found the Float Assembly pretty clogged and dirty, which I...

1 Scrape and rinse dishes before putting them in your appliance. Small food particles, grease, sauces and bones clog up the system, keeping the dishwasher from properly rinsing your dishes. You don't need to prewash the dishes but be sure to rinse off any solids.
2 Use a toothbrush to clean around the dishwasher door.
Clean around the seal and hinges of the dishwasher. This area often is forgotten and holds a good deal of bacteria and food splash. A tooth- or bottlebrush is the best way to get into the crevices.
3 Clean chunks of food out of the screen and drain at the bottom of your dishwasher, recommended The Family Handyman. If the drain is plugged, the dirty water can't be washed away and ends up back on your dishes. Nut, bean and seafood shells, bits of plastic and small dishes can lodge against the drain, keeping it from doing its job.
4 Unclog the holes in the sprayer arms. If the holes are blocked by food or soap, water cannot freely spray inside the dishwasher to thoroughly clean the dishes. Leftover food on the dishes can make the dishwasher smell.
5 Keep space around your dishes. Overloading a dishwasher keeps it from running efficiently, allowing gunk to build up around the drain and the spray arms.
6 Run your dishwasher as hot as possible to break down food and grease. The recommended temperature is 120 F.
7 Run the dishwasher with vinegar added to neutralize odor. Empty the dishwasher, place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with white vinegar on the top rack, and run a cycle at the hottest setting. If you prefer, use unsweetened lemonade powder or baking soda in place of vinegar.

I have a brand new LG dishwasher-LDF6920ST. I

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,
Vlad
