The problem is with a Viking 30" single electric oven (VESO 105) purchased around 2003. It has dual cooling fans for the electronics. They come on at low speed for around 15 minutes during preheat. Then, a relay clicks and they change to a very high speed, making them very loud - too loud for comfort.
On turning off the oven and opening the door to speed cooling, they still run loudly at high speed for 30 minutes.
The fans have been inspected; the noise is not from bearings or a blade hitting an obstruction.
The fan tstat switches have been replaced and lifted slightly off the metal surface (to reduce contact). This did not solve the noise problem, and actually caused the fans to run longer (45 minutes) after oven shutoff.
Three different Viking tech support reps have given 3 different suggestions (replace the stats/fans; replace the wiring harness and control board; live with the problem, it is a design flaw in the model) but seem to just be guessing.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and actually found a fix? Many thanks in advance for any reply.
I have this problem. If I push the burner grates backward gently against the fan exit housing, the noise goes away. Completely. I don't know how that fits into the cause of it, it seems to me to be a loose piece of sheet metal.

Its the control board fault as the components in the board are getting loose somewhere internally or not giving proper voltage required to the fan to make it run and due to that the fan is running in different speed as normal and turning off so the board needs to be checked and that faulty part should be located and replaced.as replacing whole control board is not much advisable as its just a fan problem so it will be a minute component replacement to make the unit proper.

You need to replace it .
This is due to defective control board you are facing this problem . By replacing the control board your problem will be solved . Since you have mentioned fan runs at high speed for about 30 minutes it is definitely due to bad control logic .

That is probably a defective control board, give me the model number.
If the problem is only the noise, then you replace the fan motors.
If instead, as I suspect the problem is that the fans stay at top speed for too long, then the problem is either the temperature probe, or more likely a defective control board.
You need to understand if the fans are operating on their usual speed, if they are , replace the fan, if they are not , test thermostat and control board.

There is nothing stuck in the fan. The tech has opened up the casing and inspected both fans twice.

Something in the oven (control logic? defect?) makes the fans operate at very high speed, and that is what makes the loud noise. Something also makes then run at this high speed for 30-45 minutes after the oven is turned off, even though the inside of the oven is cool to the point where you don't burn yourself by touching it lightly. Replacing the fan t-stat switches did not solve this problem.
I appreciate the suggestion to replace the control board. Would you kindly reply again with a little more detail?... Have you seen this specific problem on a Viking range and solved it by replacing the control board? Viking also recommended replacing the wiring harness - have you ever seen this contribute to the problem? Lastly - do you have a rough idea of the cost of the control board (and wiring harness)? Thanks in advance for your first post and for any additional detail you can add.
Thank you for suggesting that the problem is a faulty component on the control board. Will Viking do a board level repair of a component? Or, if Viking will want to replace the entire board, can you recommend a company to repair the board? Thanks in advance for any additional information.
