My Maytag Gemini double oven/stove caught fire twice underneath the ignitor knobs. Yesterday was the bigger of the two and really scared me. My two small children were home and it could have been really bad. Luckily, my father was there and handled the problem. I am now afraid to use my oven/stove at all. I have read similar complaints and and am amazed that Maytag is not doing anything. Any Advice is greatly appreciated. Claire at [email protected] PS service men are perplexed

SOURCE: Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

SOURCE: Maytag gemini gas stove. Ignitor problems

My experience with this is that it occurs when moisture gets into the ignitor area and shorts out the open and causes the spark. It stops after it drys out.

This is very non-techinical and I will defer if there is a deeper solution.

SOURCE: Oven will not heat

Hello, your problem is going to be a bad igniter. you should replace it. Good luck! Mike

SOURCE: Maytag Gemini double oven flashes F1 and stops heating.

I am attaching a Gemini manual. The checking procedures are the same for your oven.
Two component suspects for your problem would be the door latch mechanisms and the oven temperature sensors.

Has anyone else had a serious problem with the electrical wiring in their Maytag Gemini Gas Range? Without using the stove, the ignitors started firing and then stopped when I turned all the burners on....

Same problem here - and I have read about others with this problem. Usually blamed on moisture getting into the control unit ( which is under the backmost burner knob). I did not have a spill on the cooktop, nor was I "over zealous" cleaning. Looks like a bad design. Waiting to hear from the technician how much THIS is going to cost me...
