SOURCE: My Rotel RSX-972 surround sound receiver has no

Unless yuo can find a Rotel authorized service center, you are not likely to find any service information. These units should not be difficult to repair. Their designs are pretty much standard with a few twists. Any shop that handles audio repair should be able to resolve this. If not, please post your location and I'll try to locate a shop for you.

Also, are there any indications that the unit is trying to work at all or is it completely dead?

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: My Rotel RSX-972 surround sound receiver has no

I had the same problem with my Rotel RSX-972. The problem is the capacitor that keeps the setting memory charged has gone bad. So after power off memory is lost, including input setting for each channel. That's why there's no sound.

You'll have to hook up the receiver monitor to the TV and set them again via the On Screen Display(OSD). Work around is keep it powered up and use remote to put receiver in stand-by. Permanent fix is to contact Rotel on replacing the capacitor.

I have an old surround sound reciver ROTEL RSX-1067 Mabee 20-30-40 years old : one day it just shuts down, just like that.

Several possibilities come to mind. First shorted connections to speaker wires. Faults in the power supply. Sometimes if the unit has not been working for a while the large capacitors in the power supply can dry up.
An overload on a power transistors.

Denon receiver not working surround output

If everything is connected correct, the only thing I can think of, is you don't put in a surround signal. If you only feed 2 way stereo, only two speaker will work. Also if you switch to stereo, the other channels will stop working. Check the cables, the settings and the input.

I have an older model Yamaha HTR 5830 receiver and I want to set it up for surround sound (5.1). When I test the receiver all five speakers give back a signal, but nothing ever comes out of the center or...

The broadcaster of the TV station has to tell you they are transmitting surround sound - sometimes they are just transmitting stereo. Also, the media as in CD's and DVD movies must have surround sound embedded or recorded on it to allow surround sound.

I have a JVC DVD player that doesnt come with surround sound but i have surround sound speakers is there something I can buy so that I am able to use the speakers

If you have surround speakers with a surround system, then connect the Player to the surround system using for example RCA cables (White and Red).

If you have speakers only, connecting many speakers to a non-surround system won't give you surround.
In surround systems the sound is controlled, elaborated and distributed through the speakers by a circuit.

If you wnt surround sound the alternatives are :

  1. Connecting a surround system (eg.Home theater, receiver) to the player (amp+speakers)
  2. Upgrading the DVD to one with surround.
Let me know if you need more help.

bye.

No sound output from Center and Surround speakers

the only time the center and surround speakers put out sound is when it has a surround sound source such as a dvd etc. and only certain sounds come from them as well.

No sound back two speakers

After using the method of last resort (RTFM) I discovered that Yamaha 7.1 amps assign an order of priority to the speakers. The surround speakers have higher priority than the surround-back speakers. I had connected the rear speakers (in a 5.1 configuration) to the surround-back speaker terminals and since nothing was connected to the surround terminals the E-6 error happed on auto-setup.

I eventually fixed this by connecting the rear speakers to the Surround L/R terminals and then, via the manual setup menu, set rear surround = NONE. This causes the amp to route the rear-surround signals to the Surround L/R terminals. The auto-configure then completed successfully.
