The laser in your DR-6000 is exactly the same as what's in the philips cdr-775 and cd-r-770.
a brand new laser for these are very hard to get hold of and are very expensive. personally i would look out for the above philips models on ebay for less money then take the whole mechanism out and unscrew the servo board and then fit the marantz servo board in place of it and fit it back into your recorder.
i have done this on numerous occasions with no problems.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the helpful hint. Bought a CDR770 for 25 euros and "transplanted" the mechanism. Quite easy to do. For those of you who don't know, the servo board is the large PCB at the bottom of the mechanism. You will need to replace this as the Marantz DR6000 has its own high quality audio on a separate PCB, whereas the Philips CDR770 has some simple analog audio on the servo PCB itself. Good to see why there's a price & quality difference, despite sharing the same mechanism ;-)

SOURCE: Hi.I have CD Recorder Marantz

DR-6000 only accepts CD-R audio or CD-R music discs, not the standard CD-R discs. the difference is that the audio and music discs have the OPC formatted differently and they cost a bit more because they include the royalties fee. Standard CD-R discs won't work in this recorder. The correct discs have compact disc "digital audio" logo on them.

Changed my nad for a marantz but find the CDs jump .do they have to be absolutely clean to play well.on the nad no such problems.thanks Rob.

But this marantz is new or used? BTW, it seems a laser focus issue.
If it's an old gear, maybe there's dust on the laser lens, that you can gently remove with a cotton fioc and compressed air like that for PC care. If the problem remains, laser group has to be replaced, because exausted.

laser cleaning cd's very rarely work. the only thing they are good for is if there is a build-up of dust on the lens. Sounds like you most likely need to have the laser replaced.

CD drive not spinning up, why?

The Laser Pickup Assembly is the problem, usually caused by a weak laser pickup or a defective pladder motor that spins the cd's, one possible solution is clean the laser pickup lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, if this fails the entire assembly must be replaced or buy new the cheaper option.

DR6000 display "open"

you may need to replace the whole mechanism as i've had quite a few philips and marantz cd recorders with the same mechanism with exactly the same problem. when you press open/close it will display open or close with no sign of life from the player. this turned out to be a faulty laser unit and the PCB which is underneath the mechanism seems to go the same way which i found out later when i replaced the laser unit. the recorder worked for around 5 minutes then the laser started moving erratically but then would work again for 5 minutes after switching it off & on again. i cured the fault by replacing the PCB aswell. hope this helps?

CAN,T DETECT CD IN BURNER TRAY

laser failure on the recording side is very common on marantz and philips cd recorders.

My one-year old Marantz CD5001 CD player

these models use the 12.1 philips laser mechanism and it is a very common problem for failing to read discs.
various technics / marantz / philips / cyrus cd players etc also use it and are plagued with the same fault.
it's a 90% chance the laser is dead!
philips realised the unreliability of this laser and uprated it to the identical looking VAM-12.
do not dismiss the spindle motor as these also fail quite alot on this mechanism.

hope this helps.
