SOURCE: my ds screen sticks on 'loading' when my r4 is inserted...why ?
You only need to use one, if you are using both at the same time that is why. I recommend you format your sd card.
1. Plug SD Reader Into Your PC
2. Go To My Computer
3. Right Click Your SD Card (Usualy F:)
4. Click Format
5. Use the drop down menu to change file system to 'FAT (default)'
6. Uncheck Quick Format If It Is Checked
7. Last Click Format
After that is complete just reload 1.18 kernal onto your r4.
If It Works Then You Can Add More Items To Your SD Card

Try re-installing the operating system onto the card. Go to www.r4ds.com download & unzip the kernel. This will create a folder with the operating system.Copy these files to the root of the SD card (There should be 2 files & 2 folders) After this, copy the .nds files also onto the root of the SD card, and the games should be visible & playable when you turn on the DS
NOTE: this will not work for the Nintendo DSi

Get this file
extract the file with winrar, and copy the files to the DS card.
The file structure should have is:
Files
Folders
You should now put your .nds files onto the root of the card also, and hopefully all should work OK for you

I had this problem for awhile. Go to the R4DS home page (google it) and download the most recent firmware. If you have a R4DS clone, then you will need to find the home page of that device and download the firmware there. If the files are zipped, extract thim with the default Windows zipped files manager or 7-zip. Copy all the files inside to the root of your 2gb card. This should fix the problem.
