Yamaha HTR 5760 Video Problem with Wii

My Yamaha HTR 5760 is connected to a Philips HDTV via Component Video Cables (Monitor Out). Component inputs (2) have DVD Player and Playstation II.

Now I bought a Wii with Composite Cables (did not want to splurge on Component Cables when the Wii can throw a measly 480p) and connected it to Composite Inputs (VCR1).

While the Audio portion is fine (I hear the Wii opening screen sound), there is no video. Tried all input modes.

Please advice

This answer is not true. The Wii is capable of 480p video over component cable, but also 480i or 576i works fine over component. But I have the same problem that my Yamaha receiver has no picture with the Wii set on 480p. 480i (60hz) and 576i (50hz) works fine over the component cable!? Any (other) advise how to fix this?

    There is no 'up conversion' on this (or most of the) Yamaha receiver(s) for component to HDMI. So the receiver cannot display the 480p signal over HDMI on the TV. So you will need to connect a component cable from the receiver (component or RGB output) to the TV (component input as well. Very strange because with the Wii set on one of the interlaced video signals (480i or 576i) and connected with a component on the receiver cable works flawless over HDMI (on the TV)!?!?

    An other solution is to buy a "Wii to HDMI" connector. You can find several of those on eBay or Amazon

You need to connect a composite cable from the receiver. The receiver does not carry a composite signal over component cables.

Samsung HDTVs of late have a combo component/composite video input. You can connect your Wii using the green/yellow video RCA input on the rear of the TV. For the sound, connect the white and red RCA cables to the corresponding audio inputs on the TV. Make sure not to have any cables connected to the blue and red component video inputs next to the green input. Now press SOURCE using your HDTV remote and select the AV source, navigating down or up to hilight the AV selection. Power up Wii and you should see on your HDTV.

This receiver doesn't support processing of video signal, only switching. This means that it can output only the same format of video. Only some more expensive models do upscaling from component/composite to HDMI out.

From HDMI out, you can output only signal that came via HDMI in 1-3. For component out, you can output only component in. The same for composite.

So in order to use wii through receiver to TV, you must connect receiver and TV also via the component cables.

Or other option is to connect component from wii directly to TV and connect only audio to receiver.

Does the Yamaha have HDMI inputs? Usually you would connect the directv and dvd player via individual HDMI cables to the Yamaha (input)and then the Yamaha (output) to your TV also via HDMI.

Not sure if this is your problem, or not, but the red and white wires are for audio. There is a separate yellow wire for composite video. Alternatively, you can use the red/green/blue (RGB) connector cable for component video.

No video signal on Yamaha HTR 5930
On , HTR-5930, composite inputs are routed only to composite outputs. The same happens to component input. You can't see video from V AUX if your TV is hooked-up on component output. Also, check if you connected correctly GREEN, BLUE AND RED on both receiver and TV SET.

The Yamaha HTR-6030 offers two types of video monitor output: Component and Composite. You may need to connect both types to your television as the HTR-6030 does not have composite to component video conversion. In other words, to view your VCR on your TV, you need to use the composite video monitor connection. However, for a DVD player or other source that has component video connections, use the component video monitor output to your TV. If your TV has both types, you simply switch between the two with your TV remote to access the proper video monitor output signal from the HTR-6030.

if you are useing component cable on you dvd, and you dont get video ! Check your setting on the dvd menu. change your video setting from composite, to component.
