First you need to install the WEBcam driver. After the installation an icon of the WEBcam should be installed on your desktop, click on this icon to open the WEBcam so you can now use it.

backup your files then reformat it .use sp1!,then update drivers uing windows update,then go to device manager and look for yellow triangle sign(means that microsoft update din't dl'ed the driver).So you have to manually download it on hp's website.then voila:)

HP Pavillions are not good... Buy a new Laptop that dosnt use Nvidia graphics card.

The problem resides in the graphics card Heating up to madness.
If you know how to open your Laptop, Dissassemble it and remove the processor. Heat up the Graphics card with a hair blower for 5 to 10 minutes. put the hair dryer about 1 cm distant to the graphics card.
After that - let it cool and make sure you put back everything correctly, screw it up and Voila...
Your laptop is new again..

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC laptop and it has a built in webcam. You can see if yours does by going to this free webcam test site. If yours is a desktop model then you won't have a webcam and will need to use an external one that plugs into your USB port.

First uninstall the drivers and then download the latest bios update for your notebook from hp.com and then restart the computer.... then install the latest updated drivers for webcam from hp.com and check this will surely work.
If not then check for quickplay driver update too.
Another thing open task manager and then go to processes and check wethere you can find the webcam running or not if yes then right click and end the task , also check for the programs that might use webcam like if you have installed yahoo or skype messenger end the program task too.
