Are the pictures only showing brown in the camera lcd, when you transfer to you PC they are correctis yes, then your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

try updating its firmware from internet by conecting it to itunes

You need to go into the menu function to turn the screen on (this feature saves the batterys)

Check your power supply to your screen cause it should at least show a amber light at the screen to show that there is power but no proper signal from the computer.

So below are step to check the power supply to your monitor. Assuming if you use a different monitor on your pc it works

1. Check your fuse both internal and external
2. check if power is receipted by the LCD

my guess is that you messed with something while you were prying it open.

I have the nokia 6126 (very similar) with a broken screen but i get it open, could you help me with that
