My serger won't cut. The cutting blade will not move up and down. Where can I go on line to look at how the serger (white superlock) works so I can see if I can better understand the problem

Either adjust your knife to cut wider or tighten both looper threads.

first, pull out the bvlades and make surte they are sharp. It could simply be that they are dull. Next, line tyhe bottom blade up level to the surface of the needle plate. The top blade should be adjusted to where it slices against the botom blade. You may have to experiment with the height adjustment on the top blade, assuming you have a suitable cutting edge.

SOURCE: serger blades do not cut.

For now, it works only satisfactorily:
I applied alcohol to further clean both blades,
dried and then oiled them. There seemed to be a slight gap between blades;
the fabric was dragged into the gap instead of being cut.

Sometimes the blades need to be adjusted. Lower them all the way manually to the bottom. The cutters if you look on the side should meet. If they don't' meet or if there is a small space then the upper cutter needs to be lowered.
There are screws that hold this in place. You might need a man to help since the screws on my machine are very tight!

SOURCE: Brother 1034D serger is not cutting and is binding up

This problem is usually when the lower blade drops below the sewing plate. Look at the blade in relation to the plate and see if it has dropped below the plate, then you can reset the blade. If it is not the upper blade may be too dull to cut so it will need to be replaced.

Toyota 6600 model Serger. It isn't cutting. The arm that holds the upper blade isn't going up and down. How can I fix it?

It sounds like it needs cleaning and servicing, and perhaps new blades. They should be serviced every year if you use it a lot.

Why is my overlocker not cutting?
If the fabric is not cut properly by the overlock machine, or the machine pulls the fabric into the machine, the blades are probably dull or damaged. When you use your locker a lot, the knives become dull, especially when using thick and special fabrics.

My White Superlock 534 won't sew. It cuts and moves but no stitches.

try changing the needles
rethread the machine
then if the machine still won't sew then it's possible that it could
be out of time
here's a link to a manual, just incase you don't have one

My serger won't cut

Sounds like your blades are either dull, misaligned, disengaged or broken. Examine your serger book for how to re-engage the blades. If they are engaged, make sure they are aligned correctly. If that still doesn't help check for damage.

Can't get the Lock Cutter Attachment to work. The right hand cut fabric won't feed through the fabric just won't go through and get cut and over sewn

tally_girl_35.jpg have you got the little silver arm with a gap in it (see photo above mounted over the needle bar? This is essential as the movement of the needle bar going up and down is driving the blades in this attachment.
The walking foot attachment for sewing machines works the same way, you need to place the little arm over the needle bar to make this aftermarket accessory work as its not driven by the sewing machine motor, purely by the movement of the needle bar.

Saying that, I would be suprised if this attachment cut heavy weight fabric or several layers well, like many things made to imitate a purpose built machine (serger) there is no substitute for the real thing. It might be fine to just trim the fabric loose threads off a fabric edge but also you would need to watch that the trimmed bits are going somewhere and not getting into the seam or your machine. On a serger, the blades are working right beside a vertical drop off with a waste tray below and there is a lot of lint and fibres trimmed which quickly builds up. With this attachment, you'd have to manually ensure that the trimmed fibres are swept out of the way.

I hope this helps you to get it working though - 4 thumbs up if so. :-)

I have a Babylock 5260 serger and have changed the blades before but this time when I changed them I can't get them to align correctly. the top blade comes down and hits the bottom blade. I cant figure out...

First make sure that both blades have no burrs on the them from hitting pins. Then set the lower blade so that the cutting surface is flush with the surface of the needle plate. Then adjust the upper blade so that when it comes down to it's lowest position on the downward stroke of the cutter arm, that the cutting edge comes down past the lower blade at least 1MM. That will ensure a full cut of the blades.
