I've had the fan replaced and the thermostat replaced. I have no smoke coming out of the exhaust and the car runs fine. It only gets about 2/3 hot and then the fan kicks in and cools it down but its a consistent problem any suggestions? I recently had the motor mounts and intake manifold gasket replaced and i have no engine codes or engine light on. Ive dumped soo much money into this for repairs that havent been needed. I just want to get the car fixed properly
Your car should have a High and low speed connector there. That would cause the problem you described, if the PCM sees the temp at about 195 the low speed fan should kick on, if that fan doesn't provide enough airflow it kicks on to high speed to cool quicker. in your case the low speed is non existent and the computer is simply waiting for the temp to raise to the point where it triggers the high speed relay.
Are you taking the car to a dealership or an independent shop? In the age of computer controlled cars it is a huge no-no to change the thermostat temperature, because the computer relies on the thermostat opening at a certain temperature and if it doesn't you performance/ fuel economy/ pocket book will suffer because of all the problems it can cause

I'm pretty sure it kicks on at about 195 but the took the temp of both hoses in and out of the radiator and they were both high with only about a 15 degree difference
Oh the fan doesnt kick on in my car til about 210 or 215 when the guage is about 2/3 the way up but then the temp goes down. but the autoshop just put a brand new radiator fan on the car. this new fan has 2 plug inputs im guessing one for low speed and one for high speed but my car has only 1 plug
The new thermostat i just had put in was a 190 thermostat cuz the other one was sticking they told me that it was the stock temperature thermostat

I have the exact same problem. I replaced the Radiator, Coolant Temp Sensor, Fan Relay, Thermostat, and upper radiator hose. None of these have changed the issue. The fan still comes on late. Only when the temp gets to 2/3 up and sometimes a little higher, however never all the way in to the Hot mark. So the best rated answer here says that the fan should have a low speed terminal/connector as well. So how do we actually fix this issue? What part do I need or what should I do to make the fan come on sooner?
That is the normal operating temperature of this engine, does it continue to get hotter after the fan kicks on or does it maintain that temperature.
At what temperature does your fan kick on?
