The blades may not be turning because the blade assembly is not fully tightened onto the blender bottle. Another reason could be that you are not putting the blender bottle and blade assembly into the blender base in the proper way. try rotating the container part 1/4 of a turn to line up slots and press down . then if it does not blend turn another 1/4 turn to line up slots and press down pushing container into base motor unit .
container and screw on blade lid is put in upside down and the plastic posts have to match the base unit to turn on the blender when you press down on container into base unit.
Smart move. The blade assembly is almost frozen and the motor does not have enough torque.. You need to remove the blade assembly and completely clean out the bearing and reassemble after the Mr. clean operation. A lite dab of oil is also called for.
Make sure the blade assembly is put together in the correct order. The blade needs to go through the gasket so that the order is pitcher glass, gasket, and metal blade base. Then the final plastic cap threaded onto the pitcher. If the gasket is not between the pitcher and the metal blade assembly, you will have leaks. Also, check the gasket to be sure it's not cracked and that it doesn't have residue on it. I hope this helps. If it does, please come back and rate my suggestion!
If you replace the jar first check the printing on your old jar. If your jar has blue print you will need a new jar and blade, Breville redesigned the jar and now the old blades don't work with the new jars. You tell the difference between the jars by the print color, old is blue, new is white.

The seal on the rotating shaft has either worn out or hardened and if constructed like most, the seal cannot be replaced since the chopping blade and shaft are permanently fastened together.
Your only recourse is to buy a new blade assembly which should be available.
I would search for it with the model number of the blender and 'cutter' or 'blade' assembly.
Replace the blade assembly immediately. They are available from Cuisinart's website. Sugars and other stuff can gum up the blade assembly over time, so it will periodically need to be replaced. A quick and easy way to keep the blade assembly clean and working longer is to put water and a drop of dishwashing soap in the blender after use and run the blender at low speed for 15-20 seconds - an old Osterizer trick.
Frozen elements are generally not recommended for blenders of any brand. They may cause the blade assembly to stop moving completely, or to "bog down," and this may eventually damage the motor. It is recommended that frozen fruits and/or yogurt be thawed when possible before placing into a blender. If this is not a possibility for you, I would use a "pulse" or "chop ice" function to rapidly spin the blades for just a moment. This will chop the contents in smaller, more manageable parts. This should be done before adding other liquid ingredients.
sounds like a shear pin either on the motor or the blade assembly. If you put the blender on low without the cannister on top touch the gear on top of the unit and see if the gear slips or stops. Use a pencil or something..Not your finger. If it stoops then the pin is broken at the motor. If not, it is broken at the blade unit.
Exact same problem. Turned out the threaded shaft that holds the blades was broken so tightening the nut on the top doesn't really help. Just ordered a new blade assembly from www.smallappliance.com. Mine was the Waring 007314W Blender Cutting Assembly but there is also an older one for earlier models. Don't know if it will work yet (assume it will), but cheaper than buying a new blender.
