Scan error with HP Photosmart C4480

you can scan from the computer using hp solution center.look for it's icon on the desktop or on the laptop.double-click on that and it will give you scan options.you scan photos or documents using that program.

if you installed the software cd that came with the printer then you should be able to use solution center

RE INSTALL SCANNER DRIVER

Try using the HP Scan Diagnostic Utility in Windows - HP Customer Care (United States - English).

is it making copies properly????if yes then clean the scanner bed...try again..else go to control pannel >>add or remove program>> delete solution center>>smart web printing>>photosmart essential...restart the computer...then put the cd in..click on add more softwre>>solution center>>photosmart essential..it wil work..if not then open solution center>>settings>>scan option...transfer all the option to right side...update the list it will work

You need to find the scan option on the printer and modify it.

You can not scan wirelessly. Check your connection and sharing properties

Frankly Vista is a dog, and I'm not surprised at your difficulty. Have you tried installing the printer from Vista itself, rather than using the Printer CD? This can work if the printer CD is for XP (as many are).

1. Go on HP website
2. Go the Support and Drivers
3. Select Download drivers and software (and firmware)
4. Type in Photosmart C4480
5. Select Operating System "Microsoft Windows Vista"
6. Select HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers
7. Click "Download Only"
