Hey, i got myself on this issue since the new update of live messenger, i remembered playing with permissions because my windows wouldn't start and made the whole C:/ drive under my ownership and yeah solved this by getting a full control permission for the Local Services

1- open computer in start
2- right click on C: drive (or whatever drive windows's installed on)
3- properties <<Security tab>>
4- click (for special permissions or advanced settings click advanced)
5- look for LOCAL SERVICE and click change Permissions (you might not see it if not skip after 8
6- click on LOCAL SERVICE and click edit
7- check the full control box. click OK (you're back to the page of 6)
8- Check the box at thhe bottom Replace all Child object..... click ok and click continue on all prompts

6- Click on Add... in that window there's another advanced...click it
7- In the popup window on hte right side of common queries click <Find Now>
8- In the search results at the bottomthere should be LOCAL SERVICE click on it and press OK on top of the search results click OK in the small window
9- Click the first checkbox and choose OK
10- Check the box at thhe bottom Replace all Child object..... click ok and click continue on all prompts

This is also good for Windows Installer error 2203 and got this solution http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winformssetup/thread/56007f34-8f61-4336-a6ab-9328cca0c78e this Wont get WLM to work reason why i went directly to the whole drive good luck all

Error 80004004 keeps poping up and has problems connecting to the internet had netbook for a week

Windows Media Player Error 80004004 is generally produced when Windows Media Player can not complete an action because you have cancelled it. For example if you are downloading a DRM file from an online music download store such as Napster or MSN Music and you cancel the DRM licence acquisition part, Windows Media Player will produce the error message.
You are recommended not to cancel this part of the playback process because without a DRM licence your music or video file will not actually play in Windows Media Player.
However should you cancel the DRM licence download many sites allow you to redownload the licence with ease, simply go back to the site and locate a button or selection named "Redownload"

What error-message(s) do you get when you try to download?

Can you try to download from a different computer, and then copy the download file to a USB memory-stick, and then connect the memory-stick to your computer, and then install from that device?

Error #80004004

The problem is with outlook. Have you activated the product?

"The following appointment cannot be written to Microsoft
Outlook due to error 80004004. The item will be skipped."

This error code indicates that the operation has been aborted during reading
of the pst file. This might be a result of some kind of corruption.

Search for a program called scanpst.exe. This is a small utility included
with Microsoft Outlook which will scan your *.pst file (the file that
contains your personal information) for possible corruption and attempt to
repair it. The default location of the file are as follows:

* Windows XP, NT and 2000:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT\scanpst.exe

* Windows 95, 98, and Me:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\95\scanpst.exe

Note: C: might need to be replaced with appropriate drive letter.

You will need to run it against the .pst file. If you are unable to locate
the path of the .pst file, do the following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click File -> Data File Management
3. This should list all the PST files that are present. Click Open Folder
and you should find the storage path of your *.pst file.

Good luck and if theres anything else let me know!
