SOURCE: my hitachi nail gun NR90gc2 will not fire

Check the date of the bottom of the gas. With the gas removed when you fire it you should hear a faint spark sound from the top. If gas is in date try putting it in your pocket for 10 minutes to warm it up. Open the front and make sure the piston is pushed all the way up into the machine.

With 90 # air and PC nails. When I pull the trigger nothing happens. No air noise, no nailing, no movement - just dead. It's been oiled every use.

Most likely stuck trigger valve. Easy to check. Remove nails, remove trigger to expose the firing pin of trigger valve. Connect air and very quickly depress the firing pin all the way in. If the gun fires , adjust the safety to depress the trigger valve completely. If the gun does not fire, replace firing valve, or remove and check /lube o-rings in valve. Good luck

I pull the trigger and you get a air sound but no firing of nails . You get air release from top of gun

Could be just a lack of lubrication in the headvalve /orings or the safety foot is not pushing in the trigger pin all the way. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the head-valve. Apply plenty of white grease or silicone paste to the orings and the surface where the orings make contact. Install the head and test. If the gun fires then you are done. If the gun does not fire, make sure that the safety foot is depressing the trigger valve all the way in when attempting to nail. Simple test is to remove the trigger exposing the firing pin. With nails removed and air connected, with quick motion depress the firing pin all the way in. If the gun fires make adjustments to safety foot. If the gun still does not fire (with headvalve lubed) replace the firing valve core part # ca0108. Good luck

My new porter cable RN175B nail gun won't discharge a nail

If the trigger is set to single fire, you will need to place the gun against the work then pull trigger as you have done. Try setting the trigger to bump fire and try again. If hear a thump inside the gun, remove the head and check that the head valve in not stuck from lack of lubrication. Easy test, remove the nails, remove trigger pin, remove trigger and manually push trigger firing valve. If the gun fires then suspect faulty trigger or safety arm not lifting enought to activate the trigger valve. Good luck

Gun is full of nails, but acts like it is empty (the plunger won't advance). You go to tap it with the trigger pulled, and it just does nothing. Seems like firing pin is not getting air or somet

If no air is leaking from the gun, take out the nails, remove trigger by removing 3mm hex head bolt to expose the trigger pin. With air connected and side door open so that you can see the feeder, quickly depress the trigger pin with finger. Gun should fire. If gun does not fire (only makes air sound at trigger) dissconnect airline, remove head and lube headvalve with white grease and reinstall. Test again. If ok replace trigger. If still no joy, replace trigger valve with new factory or generic (part # TVA6). If gun fires but does not activate the feeder claw, remove two 6mm hex bolts from front of gun and split apart upper and lower body and check white oring (part # 149885) Good luck

Nail gun problem

This is a bottom fire tool. (NV83A2) You need to hold the trigger down and then as you place the nailer to the wood the safety will depress and it will fire once. This is usually done in one, swift action. If you do this in the opposite way by placing the tool to the wood and then pulling the trigger they often will double fire.

How to adjust double shot for Hitachi nail gun

The condition of the driver oring is an indication of wear of all the other orings in the gun. Remove the nails and lightly tap the nose against piece of wood. If the driver drops to bottom of cylinder the oring is worn out and time for oring kit. Hitachi nailers are sensitive and will double fire if placing the foot against work then depressing trigger. Adjust the depth thumb screw several turns either direction then depress trigger and quickly bump gun against work. Good luck with your repair.

Nail Gun Problem

Professional-grade varieties are automatic, and fire a nail directly upon pulling the trigger. A semi-automatic nail gun is more appropriate for beginners, since it requires a two step process: pull the trigger and then tap the barrel against the wood. This safety feature protects the user from accidentally firing a nail gun and injuring himself or others.
