Yes. I kept looking on other sites, and saw a HP USB tv tuner. the computer has to have mediacenter, and mine does. I do not have to put in inside my computer, but only in the USB port. I talked with the salesman at HP, and I did order it. I think I will like it better. Thanks for your answer.

I received the TV tuner, but had to wait for the cable man to come and program it in. It does work fine, but to change channels I have to use the remote, not the one on the screen. The channel on the screen has to be onchannel 3. I do like it goine into the usb port; easy to use. Thanks for your help.

I did recieve an antenna, but it is a small one. I receive HD on my computer, and I really like it. I think the $100.00 was money well spent. I guess even if I left the cable company for a satalite system, that It would work the same way. I am thinking about changing my cable (with satalite) and phone (phone to magicjack), and keeping my internet with the cable company. The reason is the cost is better for cable with the cable company. This will save me about $45.00 a month for the first few months, then about $25.00 a month. I have not decided for sure, but am checking into it.

Hello,

Basically what I can see from what I have read one had dual tuner capability and one is set up for PCI Express. Both look like great cards.

Yes USB is a great idea, I personally use a PCMCIA card for my laptop and I love it. I think the USB offer some great advantages over internal cards like, you can take it with you, work or on the road. Only thing I dislike about mine is that its Analog only I use a converter box to get Digital because I was too cheap to buy the expensive one. I think you will enjoy the USB TV Tuner. Let me know how the quality is and how many stations you can pick up. Hey did that come with an antenna too?

Dell? Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 TV Tuner "IR Hardware not detected" message during setup

Make sure you have the remote sensor plugged all the way into the connector on the card. Also check your taskbar for the "remote" icon which confirms you have "irblaster32.exe" installed.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 running windows XP on ATT uverse I can not get the TV Tuner card to pick up any channals I have tried the bundled SW and a thrid party software results were the same. I...

Most likely, all stations in your area have switched to Digital Transmission, and your card can no longer find any. If that is the case, then you need a new card (they are not convertable) sorry.

Digital Transition

It's analog.  You need to purchase a digital receiver.  I personally have a USB external digital tuner running in Media Center 2005.  Search Ebay for "ATSC usb".  There's a lot of different options and most of them are pretty inexpensive.  To use a digital tuner in Media Center 2005, you have to leave the analog tuner / tuners in also.  You should still be able to use your current remote control with the new digital tuner.

WinTV-HVR-1600 Tuner card to DishNetwork receiver

Yes, but what it can connect to depends on what Dish DVR you have. The newer, HD ones only have HDMI, S-Video, and that 5-split coax as outputs for the main TV since you only get these box's if you have and HDTV.

This is because regular old coaxial is no longer good enough for them. This means you must connect the newer DVR's to the S-Video input on the Hauppauge1600 since it is the only input to the card the Dish DVR supports.

If your DVR is older and has the coax out, you can use that and connect it to the Hauppauge analog input.

TV Tuner for my HP

Hello Matt,

WISH YOU HAPPY MERRY CHIRSTMAS!!!!!!!!

I am Vikram Kumar Thumu from India- Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to the Tv Tuner card. Since, I work with HP as Technical Support I would like to suggest you on this issue.

Well, the "HP ExpressCard TV Tuner for Windows Vista
(RM436AA#ABA)" supports only for Windows Vista.... and it will not work with Windows XP.

If you are lookng for Windows XP Tv Tuner Card, I recommend you to purchase Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 (EC557AA#ABA). As this one supports for Windows XP but needs Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 .

These are available solution for you at this moment . I hope that this should resolve the issue for you.

If you need any other information please do mail me at [email protected]. I'll be glad to help you.

Once again WISH YOU HAPPY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Bye...
