My laptop acer aspire 3100 crashed. it was fine before i turned the laptop off, but when I tried to turn it on again it got stuck starting windows up, I have Vista. I waited for some time but after 30 min. I turned it off by pressing the off button. Now when I press the on button nothing happens, the screen is all black but the on-light is showing that its on. you can usually "see and hear"(by the lights & harddisc) when its thinking, but its all quiet. I tried pressing F2 to enter BIOS set up, still nothing. Is it totally dead and gone? please help!!!
hej thnx for the reply, but I tried that already and even pressing F2, F8 and alt - F10. but still nothing, im thinking of just formating the whole pc, start from zero no OS and everything, but where can I get that program. I know that I have to burn it and insert it to my damage laptop. I dont really care now, just want to get it fix!! can u help me with dat compuGuy44 ?

First you can try to pull the battery out and unplug the power adapter for a minute. Then plug the laptop back in without the battery. Then try to turn it back on.

Try starting up in Safe Mode (Console mode) and type in "SFC /Scannow"Once its done you should be able to do recovery options. If not, boot from the windows 7 recovery/install CD and choose "Repair". Go through the recovery process using the CD and it should all be fine!
Hi there, please restart your laptop when its booting press F8 key . You will find few option asking for selection. Select that by using up/down arrow key. Select " Last know good configuration" & press Enter. Next page asking for selecting operating system, for example: windows vista or Windows XP etc. Just select the operating system & press Enter again. ( Hope your laptop showing only one operating system ). Your laptop will start normally. After the if you seen the screen dark then press FN+Right arrow in key board(>). When you press FN + ( < ) or ( >) key that's time its working for brightness controlling for screen. Now if all well then fine other wise please let me know .
Another suggestion is run your Acer driver DVD for installing Display drivers. When finish restart your laptop and watch whats going. If no success then format the Operating system & reinstall again.
This problem is due to a failing hard drive I believe. When the virus scan is working you get a clicking sound then it crashes. Clicking sounds from your laptop while running scans on the hard drive are bad. The first thing to do is to get your irreplaceable files backed up then contact a service professional to get the drive replaced. If it is a reputable service person they should be able to clone the drive over to a new drive with no major issues. Be sure to insist on your old drive back. Even though it may have issues, my guess is that you still have personal information you would not want someone else to get hold of.
Have you tried hooking an external monitor to the system? If that works you may have accidently switched the screen to an outside monitor. Or you could have a bad connection. Try starting in safe mode and see if it works.
If your Wundows vista is a full install program you should have deleted and created the partion then formatted the new partition before installing windows vista. Try this again if you hard drive is stuffed you will need a new one Im afraid but windows vista will tell you this before it installs itself.
