I've had my KLH receiver for probably near 8 years now, maybe a little less. Recently it's having a problem where after playing for awhile it will send out a loud pop through my speakers and turn off. It seems to be random, not after a certain amount of time because it happened 3 times in one day in a period of a couple hours but then I listened to it all day for probably 5 hours plus with no problems.
See if you can spot a pattern to the failures. I suspect that it is heat related. In the time that the unit ran all day, I suspect that the volume level was lower. Am I correct? If so, then either there are poor solder connections which are being effected by heat or there is a part that is defective. Are there any other symptoms or does the unit just shut off? If you attempt to turn it on, will it play for a while? If you can solder, look for solder connections that look grainy or have rings and resolder them.
Keep us posted on your progress,
Dan
