It seems the inside of one of pontoons on my Raider 10E bass boat has shifted. It is warped, and I'm not too sure how to go about getting it to straighten up. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
I have one too, mine is squatting in the rear, and has folds in the plastic on either side where it's integrity is failing. Length wise it is hump backed a bit. There may be no way to fix any of these problems, my problems arose a month after I bought it. Couldn't return to store, called Pelican to make them responsable for a ill-designed product and they gave me BS excuses. Name of the game, don't buy Pelican boats, only buy plastic boats that are composite with bonded foam inside. These boats have a placed in styrafoam bocks.I have one too, mine is squatting in the rear, and has folds in the plastic on either side where it's integrity is failing. I will use my $550 Pelican POS until something fails on it and then it's off to the dump with it. Look into a Freedom Electric Marine "Twin Troller X10", pricey, but you get what you pay for.I will use my $550 Pelican POS until something fails on it and then it's off to the dump with it. Pelican also told me they have been making that boat with that same design for many years, lie, with no problems, lie.Pelican also told me they have been making that boat with that same design for many years, lie, with no problems, lie.
Another thing, these boats do not do well with any HP of longtail mud motor on them, there are cavitation problems with the hull design. Probably doesn't do well with a conventional outboard either, considering pontoon boats of many sizes have cavitation issues.Another thing, these boats do not do well with any HP of longtail mud motor on them, there are cavitation problems with the hull design. There is a small black rubber drain plug located on the lower front of one of the pontoons. Pry the plug out gently with your fingers. Use something to carefully pry it out if your fingers can't do it. After most of the water is out, you can tip the boat to drain the rest. Put the plug back in. A screwing motion to insert the drain plug seems to help, even though they are no threads on it. Always store your boat upside down and covered. Good luck!
I should think that if it is only a leak and not structural weakness or damage that epoxy of some sort would do the trick. make sure you dry and clean the metal well and degrease before applieing the material weather you apply in inside or out.
probably an endura 50 would be a better fit for a potoon boat. assuming the boat is normal size. if its a smaller one then this motor might work just fine. give it a try and see if it moves you about fast enough for your taste.
Go to website for the vessel and pull up the owners manual. If none, make sure all water is out of the pontoons (assuming aluminum) Remove and store all cushions canvas soft coverings and electronics indoors. Outboard remove and store inside. Syphon bottom of fuel tank for any water if present, Remove fuel lines and fuel water seperators. Plug opening.
