Displays weak or no signal

Just bought a 50" samsung plasma HDTV, connected my antenna cable to it but it displays weak or no signal. How do I fix this?

  • Shainelin Apr 11, 2009

Same as listed, but I've done the scan for channels, and I constantly get the "weak or no signal" message whenever the channels are up.

It's getting to be very annoying.

To get any HDTV to work this is what you have to do;
CHANNEL section
1) Connect your antenna cable which you have done.
2) Go into the menu to the source option and select AIR/ANTENNA since you are using an antenna.
3) In the menu you will have to SCAN in the stations. This auto program will find all available stations.
Now you can watch tv by selecting the station you want.
The new generation of HDTV is different from the old analog sets. These have to be set up to work.
Exact information can be found in your Users Manual.

I bought a new Samsung LED 40" Series 5 TV. However, after connecting to the tv cable line, i get message " weak or no signal" and not able to get any tv signals. What could be the problem?

You usually hear "weak or no signal" when the tv's input is set to air. Check to see if changing the input might help. Or if you are using an antenna to get your tv, then maybe your antenna is not powerful enough. The new digital signal is weaker than the analog, so antennas that once worked might not work as well now. Hope this helps!

Just bought the Samsung 550 Plasma Hd Tv can you tell me if we just use a regular cable from the wall to the Tv will the picture quality be sort of off.. WE have an HM MI cable from the cable box to the TV...

unfortunately cable does not give you the best quality picture and "fuzziness ' is the reduced resolution being displayed on the tv.
the easy way to check the picture quality is to get a decent hd antenna and scan using it for free hdtv signals, if these are also fuzzy, on all channels then the tv has a problem but if it is only on a few lower resolution channels then its just the way it is until everyone is hd 720 or better.

"No Signal" on channel 9

Appears you are getting a weak signal at the channel 9 frequency. If you are using a signal splitter, try replacing it with an amplified unit since splitters always do the deed but they can and will reduce signal strength significantly.

Also remember that digital signals are not like the older analog ones that they replace. They are not subject to ghosting but are weaker and susceptible to all sorts of interference such as a leaf, rain, etc. Your antenna is good.
You also might try raising the antenna. The higher it is the better it works. (use some wire to further support additional height) Why do you think transmitters are so tall?!?!?

Plasma

Hi,
When you say "struggles to get a signal" I assume you are receiving HD programming over the air using HDTV antenna. If so, try to re-orient the antenna. Better yet, go to this website http://antennaweb.org
type in your address and it will provide you with the best antenna and antenna positioning based on your location.

If you are receiving HD programming via cable or dish, contact your service provider and they can best resolve your issue if the problem is beyond the loose cable connection in your TV's tuner input.

Hi,
If you reside in the USA, go to this website http://antennaweb.org and type your address. The site will give you recommendation on the best antenna and placement location based on your address. Works like a charm believe me.
If you live in another country, HDTV over the air programming may not be available in your country. Your best bet to get a good signal (may still not be in HD) is cable or satellite dish. Best Regards

New Samsung Plasma HDTV

That is what is called BURN IN or as the manufactures call it "IMAGE RETENTION". Basicly what this means it that you have been putting more hours on the part that is darker the smaller part, or the 4x3 picture or the square part. And, basicly the part that appears to be lighter is "LESS" worn out than the other part of the plasma tv. There is no fix for the problem, But if you go into the menu and select "BURN-IN" OR "Pattern sweep" or WHITE Screen than you will see exactly what i mean. Now, you can keep it on this pattern overnight if you would like, but i suspect it will not cure the problem, but lessen the effects of it. But keep in mind, you are reducing the life of the complete panel when you do this. Not that it is bad to do this. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask anymore questions. The better fix is to Switch over to the "Dish Network and than you can format the screen on any channel in any mode. Superior product to cable. Have a great day. And watch out for the snow storm coming. GURU JAY
