GWL11 washer, 4 yrs old. Goes out of balance 1 out of 3-4 times. Flannel sheets, flannel shirts, towels, fleece, jeans all mess it up. Pull all out, move around and retry, maybe yes, maybe no. Pulled the top of washer, checked level of drum, checked tub support springs, tilted washer to check under for leaks, etc. All ok, no noise, no leaks. Will spin fast if it can get to that cycle with out going off balance, Checked oobal switch seems to work ok, will stop spin manually. Other times works just fine. What is going on? used to work great with any load, problem happened just recently.
1 option is to wind the back feet out so the washer drum will sit more to the front so as it less likly to hit the OOB switch, other thing is that the OOB switch might have corrosion on the inside of it and in this case if it gets moisture inside it during a wash it is more likely to go OOB, so try replacing it this should fix issue, if not replace Motor Control Unit. :)

Water may be working its way up and over the inner wash tub with the larger items. Ensure that you are not overloadinig the washer. You may want to contact an appliance service company.
When the drum gets unbalanced more often then not, there's a few things to check: 1. Check to make sure your machine is level. Check level from side to side and also front to back. The machine has leveling feet to adjust. Make sure they are all in firm contact with the floor when leveled. 2. Wash items that are alike in material. In other words, wash towels with towels, shirts with shirts, etc. If you wash a load of shirts with a towel, it will have a tendency to get unbalanced quickly. 3. Avoid over-stuffing the machine and washing under sized loads. Both of these scenarios will cause a tendency to go out of balance on the spin. This will solve 75-80% of unbalance issues. Let me know how it goes..
Flannel is a light - mid weight fabric. If your tension dial goes to 8 , set your tension between 3-5ish. Try that and just tweak it to either side to get a smooth stitch on either side of yhour fabric.
Typically when the drum spins and walks the washer, it is a loading issue. As the clothes spin, they collect on 1 side, due to cintrifical force acting upon an uneven load. THis is especially prevalent in loads that are: 1. small, 2. contain lots of towels and 3. anything else that really holds water and is very heavy when wet (like comfortors, pillows)
These will very quickly throw the load off-balance.
When it happens, pull out some of the itmes, and re-load the laundry more evenly around the drum. Be sure to circle the post with towels and sheets, etc.
If you continue to run the machine off-balance for an extended time, the bearings and seals will wear quickly. Unfortunately, you will only know this when the washer begins to leak out under the machine onto the floor.
Hopefully this will fix-ya....if not let me know please!
Your agitator may be fine but how is your washer behaving is it trying to perform two acctions at one time like spinning and agitating at one time the tarnmission may be locked up
seperate sizes of clothes towels with towels shirts with shirts. if the washer gets unbalanced and cant balance itself it will shut down after ex amount of trys. your owners manual does discuss this in the trouble shooting section
