Appliance Technician: Tyler Z.
You will need to remove the lower front panel. There are 3 screws along the bottom. Remove these screws and remove the panel. Next, pull the plastic pull tab on the bottom of the latch assembly to manually unlock the door latch and then shut the door. Then start a cycle and cycle it to see if it will unlock on it's own. If not then you need to replace yoru door latch assembly. Here is a link to the part.

We tried this and it did not release...is there anything else we can do?

Appliance Technician: Tyler Z.
not really unfortunately, you can try holding the door switch button in and try to start and cycle a cycle but I'm not sure that will work either, it sounds like you might just need a new latch assembly.

.........................................
Does the latch have an actuater that would buzz or make a weird noise during a cycle?

Appliance Technician: Tyler Z.
not really no.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Have you been able to check that the pump does actually work when it's supposed to?
Here are my A to Z (sorry!) guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor. Please note the last paragraph ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Good luck!

GE WCVH6800 Pressing start results in two short beeps. The pause/start button keeps blinking and it will not start a cycle.

Is the door lock button on, but the door not actually locked? Our door lock switch keeps going out. We have replaced it 4 times in the last 3 years.

I have the same problem, and I believe it is because the filter is full. I'm tracking down the repair process now.

My GE Washer Door Won't Lock

Try this, press the pause/cancel button twice. Open the door, ensure there is nothing blocking the door and close the door fully. Open the detergent drawer fully and re-close the drawer. Select Quick wash and press start.

If this does not correct the problem, call for service under warranty.
