I have a sony trinitron model KV-36FS13. After 5 years from purchasing it BRAND NEW, the picture seems to have lost it's green color. The screen always looks very pinkish, and blurry from the color missing. The light on the front flashes 5 times, stops for afew seconds, flashes 5 times, stops for afew seconds, and so forth...
This is not a problem that a reset will fix. THe 5 blinks is a code that indicates a problem with the AKB circuit. There is a possibility that the picture tube is starting to fail, but that is rare. If you are comfortable working inside the set where there are potentially dangerous high voltages even when unplugged, let me know and I will provide additional details and instructions for a couple of repair options.

Stumbled upon this post and have the issues described above. Have already tried adjusting the focus and screen settings internally. Also tried adjusted the knob on the G2 board. Made the picture look a ton better, but still no green. What are some other options?

Hi,
I go the same problem with sony TV WEGA Trinitron HW21 M80 (Sold in India pune), I contacted the service center. the repair guys came and saw the screen and the red light on the on off switch blink 5 times.
He quickly called his office and informed them. He promised to comback to pick up the television for repair and then did not turn up later. (Even after several calls) .
I called another sony India authorized service center and had the same experience as above. Now i am convinced that the these models have potentially defective Picture tubes and circuitry that don't last more then 5-6 years and Sony is intentionaly turning its back on the customers by using delaying, ignoring and not registering the customer complaints as the warranty period is over. Time to look at sony differently, (Good products with poor service and reliablity and poor life).
Here is a few basic starts. Ask if you need more after these.
1) Does it look the same on DVD or VCR when playing one of these sources? If not then you have a bad connection problem with your TV. I need more information if this is the case.
2) Do you have a cable box or converter box? How is it hooked up? Component Cables?
3) Have you done a factory reset on your TV? Unplug it for a min of 30min (all power sources)

I don't believe it's a connection issue with any piece of equipment. I get this problem whether I use the coax connection, component, composite, etc... and various different pieces of equipment from dvd players, to cable tv, to satellite have been connected and it's all the same. I've had it unplugged for over a day but it doesn't matter. It's been like this for years. never tried a factory reset.
high voltages don't scare me. I'm an electrician and have a lot of experience in that department. I'm assuming these potentional high voltages would be caused by capacitors. If you have any ideas, I'll try them.
I have the same Tv and the exact same issue. red light is flashing 5 times and green is missing. I am not familiar with fixing TVs. Any idea what a professional repair may cost?
I have the same issue...can you provide the additional details and instructions for the repair options you mentioned above?
Thanks!
