Samsung Syncmaster 205BW power button lights up image will appear

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 205BW When you turn it on the blue power button lights up for three seconds and then the image will appear for no more than a 1/2 second at wich point the blue power light goes off, blinks twice and then stays on for three seconds repeating the cycle. From doing a little research it sounds like the power supply or inverter board. Does that sound right and if so does anyone know the part # for that board. Thanks, Ryan.

SOURCE: Syncmaster 910t blinks image perfectly once and goes back to black

I've had same problem and I fixed it!
With good CCFLs, clean supplying voltages, all good capacitors and resoldered junctions, the backlight still turns on for fraction of second and goes off.
It is in the Power Supply / Inverter board. In the Inverter part there are two dual n/p-MOSFETS U3 and U4 (models STS7C4F30L, SO-8 packages). I've found they both have too high ON-Resistance (perhaps due to age and constant overheating). All you need to do is to replace them. I've checked many models and found closest by Rds and IDcont (continuous drain current) are IRF7389, you can find distributor by findchips.com, but I've bought them at newark.com, they're cheap.
The hardest thing was to unsolder old chips, they are glued to PCB and because of overheated material under them, the copper could easily go apart. Therefore, the best is using fine tips cutters, cut off all legs one by one and then take chip body off the PCB and take legs from pads by iron. That's all you need. After that my monitor started working as new even with old CCFLs. Good Luck!

SOURCE: my samsung syncmaster 2232bw wont turn on at all,

Solution for Samsung SyncMaster 2232BWplus:

The problem is bad capacitors: 5 pcs. 820microFarad – 25v and 1 pc. 330microFarad -25v. Replace these capacitors. Then re-solder the two transformers of inverter side. Also re-solder the power transformer and the inductor coil.
To open the casing:
At the bottom of the stand just twist the knob to unlock. Then, use a small flat screw driver beginning from the bottom (left or right) then using a hard credit card (or alike) then slide/glide it in between the cover plastics.

SOURCE: Samsung SyncMaster 940n monitor that turns on then goes black

rcpips, You may need to replace one or possibly 5 -8 aluminum can "electrolytic filter capacitors" on the "switch-mode-power-supply/CCFL inverter board. If, as you say "works for 5 or 6 seconds" then that means that fuse is good. Another thing you will need to inspect SMPS board for is "cold" "frosty looking" solder joints where the components (surface mount or through hole) are soldered to the copper circuit traces. May need large magnifying glass or low power inspection microscope to locate them. Resolder any that look bad or loose. Some solder joints have thinner than "hair" thermal fractures that can also cause YOUR TYPE OF SYMPTOM!! PARTS: digikey. mouser. newark. and possibly Radio Shack. If buying filter capacitors, make sure they are rated 105 deg C only!! NOT 85 deg C!!! If caps need to be replaced (swollen, leaky) be sure to tell us the brand name you find installed on your unit! CAPXON, ELITE, JUN-FU are just 3 that you don"t want to find in your unit. BAD news if you do!! If DIY suits you, remember to document with "close-up" digital stills your unit tear-down, so you can reassemble unit without any "extra" parts laying on kitchen table!! Filter capacitors are polarized. You put them in + to +, - to -!!! if you put them in backwards they go BOOOOMMM!!! Hope this helps a little. lmistyrel on aim or 12fixlouie at fixya.

OUR sAMSUNG sYNCMASTER 205BW has a red tint in the background and cannot adjust it out.

Hello,

The red or pink tint indicates that the back light florescent bulbs are failing. These bulbs are just like the bulbs in home and office lamps just much much smaller. When the reach the end of life the light output turns from pure white to red because the bulbs are not fully turning on. Check the manufacturer date on the back of the monitor, if its less than 3 years then the monitor is still under warranty. If its older than 3 years then its time to get a new monitor because your is about to fail.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

My screen goes blank when monitor is turned on.power light on monitor stays on. What is the problem?

If you look at the screen at a sharp angle and you see a faint Windows image then the problem is a back light fault. This fault can be caused by a faulty inverter board that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp OR the CCFL lamp is faulty. The CCFL lamp is a very small diameter fluro lamp/tube and just before they fail completely they product a pinkish light.
Replacement inverter and CCFL lamp are available from this WEB site.

Samsung Syncmaster 205bw does not power up. Power button light comes on and cannot turn it off by pushing it.

The processor ic has malfunctioned and is the brains that controls various parts of the monitor, including on/off, picture settings and others to numerous to mention. The monitor is not cost effective for repair and is cheaper to replace.
