its very tricky but can be done i personally have done about 50 of them on various models but it includes taking the laptop apart and will void your warranty
Sounds like your computer is running the built in "chkdsk" program which checks your hard drive for errors. This program can sometimes take over an hour. I would plug the laptop into power and let it run its course. If it takes longer than an hour or two, you may have a failing hard drive.

It sounds like you may have installed some malware or corrupted part of your windows installation. Reboot your computer, and repeatedly press f8 until a menu shows options like "safe mode ' safe mode with networking ' repair your installation" etc. You'll want to highlight the Repair your installation option and hit enter.
