Question edited for clarity, proper 'make model (what it is)'.
I can't find a manual, but they have a common theme. Remove the faceplate and press the Reset Button, then clean the contacts both sides with electrical switch cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol.
#1. Disconnect the main power to the JBL box.#2. Check the DB9 cable connections, spray with Contact Cleaner (Techspray T8-162210S) in the male & female terminals.#3 Use a toothpick to press a reset button located top left close to the DB9 socket on the JBL box. #4 Reconnect power a& test operation. I have the same model stereo in a brand new hot tub that was having the same issue. To fix it all u need to do is pull the front cover off to access the pump controls and in there you will find a black box where a power cable runs yo the stereo. There are two screws that open a little door in the black box. In there you will need a small flat head screwdriver to move a redswit over to the 110 volts position. Turn the radio on and it should work. That black box just controls the power to the stereo.
yes i am a repair shop and i have had nothing but problems out of those units you might want to look into a different unit boss marine is a good choice
Check your remote control by using your camera or cellphone camera as your eyes. Point the remote control to the camera and "on" the remote control. If no lights emits in the remote control means that your remote control is defective If lights emits then the remote control is ok. Try also to locate the reset or rst button on the remote control if available and reset it, then try. If it wont work may be the receiver board in the unit is defective.
The unit probably doesn't think there is a CD inside. Possible doing a soft reset will fix this. Do so by powering the unit and putting a ball point or other pointed object into the reset button opening either on the face of the radio or behind the face. A hard reset can be done by disconnecting constant power from the unit for approximately 15 seconds. If either of these methods fail, then your unit has a bad CD mechanism or more than 1 CD inside the player. In that case, the unit will have to be serviced by an electronics repair or a local stereo shop. This is a Marine radio, and if installed on a boat, this problem is not too uncommon. Moist air can cause damage to the unit as well as the bouncing on the water that boats do.
Initially, have you tried a full hard reset? The reset button is at the panel at the back of the faceplate, bottom left side. Of course doing so will also erase all presets and user settings & configurations.
Additionally, pls verify that the multiple contacts pins are clean, free of corrosion and makes a positive contact with its mate at the rear of the faceplate. If the unit is used in a salty environment, it may be necessary to manually scrape of whatever blue green build up develops between the connector pins and the plastic insulator. You can try using an old toothbrush and WD40.
Further to check are: 1. the red, yellow and black wire are tightly connected where they are supposed to be connected. If the unit is used onboard, it might be to your advantage to likewise check the grounding system; 2. one of the rear connector is for a remote, pls likewise check that none of the pins are shorting and no presence of any corrosion.
If problem persists, it may be necessary to seek the services of a qualified professional as this involves opening the unit up and tracing the circuitry of the logic/controller circuit.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
