This is common after an update. leave it for up to half an hour and see if it goes to desktop. if it does not then reboot it and try again. after a second attempt hold down control on start up and when a boot menu appears select last know good configuration,
let me know if that works for you

did you try holding ctrl at start up and using a restore point (last known config)?

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2013

    Yep

if a restore isn't working for you then ensure no add on cards or usb devices are plugged in. there is something in the start up preventing it from proceeding (as if that wasn't obvious). have you tried starting in safe mode and removing any new updates or drivers?. If all else fails there could be software corruption or a virus. if you have a windows disc you can attempt a repair or reinstall a fresh operating system. You do not need to format and loose everything, windows will make a fresh install and put all the old files in a "windows.old" file. A manufacturers restore disc may wipe everything, check before you proceed. If you want to reformat but need to back up your files first then try using a linux live disc like ubuntu or kubuntu to access the hard drive and copy the files elsewhere.

...previously booting to safe mode then just restarting has worked for me.

Hp pavilion ze1115 stuck on hibernating..

Open Control Panel, Power, power settings, change power settings to high performance, Disable Hibernation, sleep. When your laptop is not in use shut it down and unplug. It will last longer and a boot everyday will reset the laptop.

I turn on my puter it goes to the user login and then logs off

Hi,

I've run into this problem too often lately. So far I haven't managed to find a decent fix for it :( I've ended up having to backup the computer's data, reinstall windows, and restore all the data.

From the times I've seen it you get to the login screen, click on your user, get the "Loading personal Settings", a quick flash of the desktop, then back to the login screen saying "saving personal settings". It would do this in both safe mode and normal mode, so I was never able to try turning off startup software or services.

Booting to the windows XP disc and running a check disc might help, but from my experience with the problem you will probably need to reinstall windows. Hopefully someone else has a better idea.

Best of luck :)

Cannot log into XP 2003 Home Edition

There is no specific way to bypass user security in Windows XP. You may want to see the following solution:

E-Machines 560

While it starts up from a power down, hit F8 and select safe mode.

Let the computer start up completely in this mode.

Once all is well and good, shut it down and reboot and see if the problem persists. If all is not well and good, a major file in your computer has been damaged, deleted or corrupted, and this can be commonly caused by:

A hard drive becoming defective
A virus
It was accidentally deleted by a user of your PC
