You can directly download MP3 music for free with software. Then transfer these downloaded songs to your MP3 player.
For Windows OS, Easy MP3 Downloader is suggested for you.
For Mac OS, Any MP3 Downloader is here for you: http://anymp3downloader.com
Good luck!

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

ATM im having alot of problems with videos on my P2, originally when i first bought it, i am pretty sure it played almost every format, MP4 to flv, but not for sum unknown reason it doesnt, and even the software emodio, (which is ****) wont even recognise these videos and when it does it doesnt even transfer into the emodio library. Really ticking me off. P2=great but there is a few teething problems that you dont get with ipods.

Refomat

setup your player in MSC mode

go to my computer and right click on the mp3 icon (common: removable disk) click on format and change the file system to FAT. this will take time.

try your player, if it still doesnt work you can download the firmware of your device from your products website www.sandisk.com if im not mistaken, or try to google your product for its software.

you can format it using the software provided by manufacturer.

PC doesnt recognise my e250 mp3 player

Get the software from Sandisk's website - e200 series Support - get country-specfic software - are you in a country that bans music download services? Contact Rhapsody support, or go to their country-specific page for the answer to that one

Formating problems

The H140 needs to be formatted as a fat32 file system for the players firmware to recognise it. To check which file system you have formatted to connect your player to your pc and go to > my computer >right click on your player > then click on properties. It will tell you what file system you have. Windows will only format to ntfs file systems, so if you need to reformat you will need to download Swissknife http://www.compuapps.com/download/Swissknife/swissknife.htm (its free :-) )and use it to reformat your player.
