GSA-5169D comes with all required software for Windows XP, but having upgraded my PC to Vista, I am struggling to get the DVD writer working. I have tried Googling and tried LG support site without luck. Please help.
There aren't any such drivers. The drive control protocols are standardized. Just do Windows Update a few times and make sure the thing's connected when you restart storage subsystems (pretty much a reboot; though installing Nero will of course get things going if you don't love Vista built-in tools.)
Well, here's my solution to the fact that the drive was working fine in Windows7 but the capture device was still shown as "unknown device" in the device manager. Just download the "BDA_082010_EMPAudio" driver from eMPIA Technology

and your set.
Took me 3 days of googling so I hope you appreciate it.
I bought a used LG GSA-5169D and software wasn't with it. I do appreciate you went to to find the file. I understand because I have spent countless hours trying to find a copy of the software and still no luck. Do you have any hints about finding the software that came with this DVD Recorder? Or, can I use my Cyberlink software already on the computer or DVD Shrink to get my movies onto DVD's? Any help you may be able to give will be appreciated. It is outdated and information is very scant. Thanks a million. Linda

Actually, the writer is also a video capture device from VHS and other live feeds coming from an RGB input. However, the video capture software is not working on Vista OS now. When I attempt to capture video, it gives me an error message which says that my device (the DVD writer/image capturer) is not connected.
