My oven shows an E7 on the control panel of my Maytag che9800bce

Everything works except the oven. The burners work fine as does the broiler. I thought it could be the oven heating element, but it will heats up to 285 Degrees. The stove has a flat top. One time the digital control panel displayed code F7. The model number is CHE9800BCE. Is this something I can do or should I call out a Maytag Repair Man?.

The tech sheet says " Function key shorted or stuck button" ,I suggest you to try to play around with the buttons and test the bake element for continuity

It appears your Ignitor has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

The oven and broiler elements are not working in my older Frigidaire stove. I suspect a blown fuse.

This is so confusing

You say
"The oven and broiler elements are not working" Then you say

"Everything works except the burners'.

so nothing works? No oven/broiler elements and no burners? It make me wonder what the 'everything' is that works? The clock? The oven light?

Sounds like the main house breaker has flipped. On my older GE stove from the 1980s there are glass screw in fuses hidden below the controls and above the hobs. You undo the switch bezel for the oven light and the switch bezel for the rotisserie and pull the panel forward exposing 8 fuses. If all yours blew, it would be very strange!

We had the same thing happen and now they came and said it was the clock that needs to be replaced. They said that controls the oven. Even though clock is on and working the function for turning on the oven is not

Maytag gas Oven GA347BXUWX

hi there,

if it's just the stove, it's not the control board because the rest of your stove work. if it's just the oven, it most likely the thermostat, blower or the heat probe. go to www.reliableparts.com to get parts for it.
