I've been reading some posts.. I don't know if this has been submitted, I hadn't seen it...
I recently installed a Kenwood DDX-512 unit in my car... but I can't get the USB to be acknowledged. the DDX-512 keeps saying there is no device found.
The USB is a Pioneer 8Gb Flash drive, I am only connecting it to the USB port that was ran into my glove compartment.
I read some posts saying that the firmware needed to be updated to the 1.5.1 edition, but that did not work...
Is there a certain format that the Flash Drives need to be formatted as in order to be read? Is there a particular button that I am not seeing that will allow the drive to be seen?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

the usb port it's a cable coming from the back of the unit and has to routed somewhere where you can get to it.
I know that if you install the bluetooth unit, you can connect another device to it because has a pass through connection.
if you have an earlier unit(serial#8020...) you will most likely have issues with the HD. doesn't hold the memory presets after shut down. Service dept. has to change an EROM inside the DDX.
sirius won't become xm pretty soon?
I own a DNX5120. I'm not an expert, just another owner. Our units have a new firmware 1.40, if you don't have it yet, download it from Kenwood. Bluetooth also has one.

On the wiring harness there is a green parking sensor wire (PRK SW) that you have to hook up. All you have to do is ground that anywhere on the chassis of the car then youll be set.

jgranados711 is correct. i just shove the green wire into the mounting sleeve. an alligator clip would make it easy. don't get pulled over or crash and die though. :)

This is a faily simple fix. First of all, this USB will not be able to playback audio from an iPod or iPhone without using the correct cable. The cable needed has both USB and an audio plug on it. Here is a link to the Kenwood cable you will need:

If you would like playback of iPod video, you will need this cable:

A local authorized Kenwood stereo dealer should have these in stock. I hope this information was helpful.
