Midi on the DP-01 is only for time synching with another device, synth, etc. To hear your synth through the DP-01 run a 1/4" patch cord from the audio outs (R and L) on your synth into the A and B inputs of your DP-01. Then assign the inputs to tracks and arm them for recording. You should then be able to hear your synth playing out of whatever you are using to monitor you DP-01 (headphones, stereo or powered monitors). To record the synth output simply press play and record together on the tascam.

I just got a Kenwood system, i would like to know how to hook it up, it has, Kenwood power amplifier km207, kenwood stereo control amplifier kc 207, disc player dp-m 97, cassette deck ky-77 cw, stereo...

That's a pretty standard setup. RCA cables from the KM207 to the preamp (KC207), and RCA cables from all of the other components into the KC207. Speakers connect into the KM207

How to with tascam dp-02 dp-02cf

You can use headphones or monitor speakers that are hooked to an amp. If you don't have one ,consider downloading a manual:http://www.tascam.com/i-3582-232-128-1-4A000F90.pdf Pay attention to the caution on page 9 and the hookup diagrams are on pages 12 and 13. Hope this helps.

My computer won't recognize my DP-01 Tascam recorder.

open the usb port on your dp-01 by going to "disk" in the "menu" select "usb opn/clse" press enter twice.

if your pc is connected to ur dp-01 it should reconize it, open the files by going into my computer as you would with a memory stick or card.

Record, playback problem

Hi Nick,

The fuzz/white noise is a little confusing and it seems to be saying that you are recording something vs trying to record incorrectly and getting nothing at all. Anyway, despite that, I would try going over your recording steps first.

First off make sure your Hi-Z input is not set to the Hi-Z or guitar setting. It is possible your that MicroKorg is overloading the input and distorting. You should however have heard that in the headphones too, so I'm not so sure that's the problem. The next thing to check is to make sure your input is assigned to the track you expect to be recording on. (Press the input's button to check this. The select/record button over the track should flash).

Next make sure your track is armed for recording before you press 'play+record' (Record button above the track should light steady when recording).

Hope this helps.

What kind of driver does my tascam dp 01 cd take.

No CD comes with the DP-01. The Tascam relys on your computers USB drivers to work.

You should probably try the DP-01 on someones else's computer first to se if it works there.

This is usually some kind of incompatiblity between the usb cable or the use hub and the usb speed (1.1 or 2.0). I would try bypassing any usb hub you might have in use first. If that doesn't work you might want to try another usb cable.

Good luck.

Failure to read WAVE file when trying to import a track.

Wav files need to be in mono to be imported into the dp-01. Fruity Loops and a most other programs by default save wav files in stereo. You'll need to save the files again as mono wav files before attempting to import them into the dp-01.

Cheers.

DJ EQUIPMENT

Lot of possibilities.

The DP-01 is like a mixer with built-in recording capabilies. You could plug your tunrntables into your DP-01 inputs, assign the inputs to tracks(channels) on the DP-01, and then output those tracks to two channels on your mixer (which would be connected to your PA.

Alternatively, you could plug the outs from your mixer into the DP-01 either by routing individual channels from the mixer into the DP-01 inputs, or outputting the mix into a single track (or into two tracks in stereo on your DP-01). Just assign the DP-01 inputs as usual to the tracks you want to record onto.

Those are just a couple of basic ideas. You could also route a DP-01 track (or the whole mix) back out the DP-01 send loop and through some external processors and then back to tracks on your DP-01, or you could do this through the mixer and then record the final result on the DP-01.

If anyone can help me out, please do!

Alternatively you could load your stereo instrumental track into a wav editor, then export each stereo track as a separate mono wav file which you can transfer via usb into you DP-01 and then on you DP-01 import those wav files into two separate tracks which you can pan hard left and hard right so they are in stereo.

Hooking up my mpc2000xl to dp01

The DP-01 does not have a MIDI-In function. Instead, it allows you to plug the MIDI device into the signal chain. Plug the MIDI device into the DP-01 by using the MPC2000xl analog 1/4" jacks on the back, marked "Stereo Right" and "Stereo Left" (right next to the headphone jack at the rear top left). Run those 1/4" cables to the front of your DP-01, into the 1/4" jacks provided.

Hold the Assign button on the DP-01 for the LEFT channel and touch the REC key for the channel you want to assign it to - the REC light will flash red to let you know the routing was successful. Do the same for the RIGHT channel.

You should also plug the MIDI-Out cable from the DP-01 into the mpc2000xl so that the clocks of the devices can be synchronized.
